I've had kind of the same luck shooting my Pedersoli Trade gun, but I found it out using .570, .580, tried out some .590" and then settled on .600" round balls. I know from some of what I've read and seen, they've found out that over the years that many times when it came to smoothbores shooters would stuff whatever they had available and make it work, but usually more than one of them at a time, almost like buckshot or buck n ball.
@blackpowdermaniacshooter7 ай бұрын
I'm guilty of that. On prior videos, I've stuffed arrows, toothpicks, chicken skewers, batteries and other things in the barrel to shoot I can't think of. The smoothbore is a VERY practical firearm to use.

Happy Easter! I put some balls dow range yesterday as well with my 53 enfield. This video shows why we really enjoy black powder. There are so many variables that go into shooting, especially black powder, that it never gets monotonous! Keep inspiring Mark! I love seeing this sport growing, especially in today’s youth! They are the future of our past!

Happy Easter, Mark. I have a friend who shoots smoothbores. He uses a tight ball/patch combo and is consistently good at 50 to 100 yards. Not a trade gun though. His have sights.

Interesting video! The .490 did well on the 1st shot, can't get anymore dead center than that. The .600 did quite well with both cardboard and ticking, as always, I enjoy all your video's 👍 Happy Resurrection Day!

Thanks for the entertaining and informative video . I do wober what would have happened if you had patched the smaller balls in perhaps felt ? I also wonder just how fast those smaller balls would go* ? * I would never try to shoot them over a chronograph as they could hit it perhaps a radar based timer would work?
@blackpowdermaniacshooter7 ай бұрын
I don't have a chronograph to try this experiment out. That would be interesting to try though...
@jamessullivan11527 ай бұрын
@@blackpowdermaniacshooter I would never try a Chronograph with suck loads it would be to easy to hit it. They now have one that uses radar so there is nothing out in front of the gun trouble is they run over $500 .
@blackpowdermaniacshooter7 ай бұрын
@@jamessullivan1152 I agree, I wouldn't either. I have seen those radar type boxes used at Friendship. They are VERY cool to use.

I love your hillbilly experimentation project. But on the last 5, did you use an over the powder cardboard and a unpatched ball covered with another cardboard ? That was another great video ! Loved it 👍😃 blessings ! On this resurrection morning ! YES 👍😃
