Just one note about Torbrand math: If a player controls multiple replacement effects, they get to choose the order in which they apply. In the example of Blazing Volley, instead of tripling 1 to 3 and adding the +2 from Torbrand to deal 5 damage, you can add the +2 from Torbrand to have 3, then triple that to deal 9 damage in total.

This is actually not true for damage replacement effects. The affected player gets to choose how those effects are stacked.

That's exactly why I keep telling people that Bolt Bend is almost just as good as Deflecting Swat. It's not that hard to keep up 1 red and if your commander has 4 or more power then it's basically the same thing. Almost. Very underrated card in my opinion

Playing "you find some prisoners" to find some artifact removal when it is already artifact removal is the smoothest brain play

I assume they were looking for mass artifact removal. There wasn't really any 1 thing on the board you could remove that improves your situation there. Crucible or Statuary probably being your best single targets. And although great enabler cards, removing either dosen't stop his current board from being explosively dangerous as they had already enabled it. Especially with how easy Red can recur a single artifact back to play. I have a deck that plays of similar strategies with Toggo, just instead of Sakashima it's silas renn to give me access to black as I wanted to mess around with the tezzerets, especially master of the bridge. And generally more than any 1 artifact on the board, your artifact count is what you're truly leveraging for things like Rise and Shine, the tezzeret drains, Marionette Master etc. So they were probably looking for something to shut those off as clearly he Rise and Shined the turn after they used that card to dig which very nearly ended the game on the spot.
