Love my benchmade 85 and the benchmade 87. I paid $750 for the 85 and $500 for the 87, since new msrp for the 85 before it was discontinued was $750 not 500 anymore. Also the latch is magnetic on both of them.

cool that I found this channel but there is no other thing that says I dont know about bali's than when they say oh it is a very large knife. review some more bali's they are all between 8.8 and 9.5inches overall usually they are all "large"

I totally agree with you..............I wouldn't buy this knife even if it was $200. Just not worth it. Benchmade has been known for making shitty balisongs in the past years and now they started making overpriced ones. I think they should just stick to pocket knives.

@@EverydayMinimalist BRS Alpha beast, BRS Replicant, anything from HOM Design, anything from Squid Industries, pretty much anything from Maxace, Dog Bite Knives, Hinderer Nieves and a few more that I probably forgot. These are all good options for production high or high-ish end balisongs.

Benchmade balisongs suck nowadays, at least form a flippers perspective. Only good thing they ever did was the 4X, great price, good flipping, 10/10. The 6X? Jesus fuck, its disgusting, $400 for SS handles, bruh. The 51 is overpriced too, flips like shit, too light, too small, and it runs on only washers for $280, its not worth it. The 8X knives look like shit, cost almost $600, and flip meh, they dont flip bad, and run on bearings, which I like, but they're still way too expensive and fugly. Benchmade is a shitty brand, change my mind.

I have like 4 Benchmade 42's that are at least 10 years old. I've never once had to modify them, adjust them, nor have I ever put a drop of oil on them lmfao. Still flip better than any BRS Alpha Beast overhyped BS (which has pretty bad QC). I never fuxed w/ the 62's or any other variants from Benchmade bc I was always 100% happy with the 42's. Was pretty disappointed with the overpriced shit from BRS. Sold that shit long time ago.

@@lyndajenkins4389 you havent had to adjust them because there is nothing to adjust. They have no bushings or zen pin screws. BRS QC is dogshit, I agree about that. Why would buy a 6X? $400 for SS, that's stupid. AB is a decent knife, the 1.0 and 2.0 were great, 3.0 is kinda ass. Depends on your preference.

@@mr.animegod_yt Yeah, BRS balis were decent, but personally I never really liked the aesthetic, and since it wasn't superior to the 42's (IMO) I let them go. I've actually been out-the-loop as far as keeping up with the community. I learned how to flip from Calvin Nation on KZbin like in 2008-2009 lol. I just started digging again today, seems Squid Industries makes some solid shit, I'll try to find some of their blades. I found some on BladeHQ I think it was, but pretty basic colors nothing I fancy. I hopped on some forums just now and good to see the 42's I bought for like $180 about 10 years ago are going for $750-$850 lmao. Anyway, out of all the flippers I have, 42's are still my fav. Anything you want to recommend I'm all ears...

@@lyndajenkins4389 squid is pretty decent, the kraken is probably the most resold knife because secondary value goes up by like $60, when they first came out they were sold for twice as much. As for knives, depending on your budget, the machinewise maryn is considered the best mid range bali. Its 365 I think, but it beats most knives that cost twice as much. You've got the sentinel aswell, it's a bit more expensive, and but just as good. More of a preference thing at that point. Custom reps are getting some hype aswell, from getting handles + rebalde to lines, scales, hardware change + rebalde, the customisation is limitless. For the 1k and up you've got J.K., Joe just came out with a new knife, DCB is doing great stuff, heibel will make a knife from scratch, and make it however you like. You pick everything. The increase in knives over the past few years is has been insane, way too much for me to put into text. Join the bali sub reddit to keep up to date with this stuff. Theres a lot I missed.

So far really liking the WBC Gigas V2, but that shit is going to be hard to find I'd imagine lol gg. I found a Biegler Bladeworks bali for $1200. Looks pretty seckzie, but I'd rather that WBC o_0. I'ma just follow a lot of these cats on IG and I guess hope I can snag one in the upcoming drops.

Yeah that was a really simple minded statement to make Stephan. You ever heard that expression “ you get what you pay for”? Not only do I agree with everything Matt said I’m going to also add in the fact that Benchmade has a lifetime warranty if you are the original owner, and life sharp, that’s why nobody sells their knife and they don’t depreciate in value. It’s like me trucking in a 389 peterbuilt vrs a Volvo VAH 400, yeah they both get the job done, but that Volvo is crap out way earlier and man ide sure rather be in that Peterbuilt. Some of the things people say these days is just blows my mind.
