@@kens5871 oh no my dude, after checking recent laws only one or two states make owning them fully illegal, maybe 5 others have restrictions on them mostly being they can't be carried, there are some states (Colorado for example) that allow edc as long as the blade isn't 4" it can be conceal carried. If its longer than 4" then I just put it on my belt sheath and open carry I've flipped all over the place for about 2 years no complaints just a lot of questions from non flippers.

I just picked up a near perfect condition Benchmade 51 for....$50. I was so stoked to pay such a small price for a name brand knife. I posted it all over the forums and reddit and everyone said it was legit and not fake.

FINALLY just got one myself. Absolutely LOVE it, too. Definitely the Bali for the guy that’s been watching too much Viking stuff on TV, and wants to daily a seax. Pocket clip is a pipe dream from Benchmade, as they discontinued them (but tooling up to do one myself). Too bad for many, as it makes one of the better big-fun-flipping-cooking knives out there (really! Not a joke). Beware the clones, though. They’re REALLY close, with the only tells being minute differences in blade finish and hardware.

As an edc knife a bali is very useful, it is a big knife when open but isn't too thick in the pocket closed and has he most solid lockup outside of carry of a fixed blade.

This is without a doubt one, if not the BEST Production Balisong in the world, "Benchmade 87". Sadly many get scared of it, and give up their training. If they only could hold out 1-3 months, and I'm sure they would have experienced something that they never thought. Almost a perfect beast of a Balisong. It's just fantastic, amazing, a piece of Art and to have made such a bali is nothing more than exceptional 👏 ❤. People, you MUST give this Balisong a chance. Don't dear it, be careful of course, but when you face it, learn to control it, you will experience greatness.🙏❤☀️

I agree!.. This knife is sweet!... I also think the build quality / materials of the Benchmade 87 are on par with the Chris Reeve, Sebenza. Both of these knives are... Awesome!.. 🤪😜 As for carrying this knife?... Hell yeah I would carry the Benchmade 87. It would be under a special set of criteria though.. - Strictly self-defence with an added fidget factor bonus!.. And last... Probably only a few times a month! This is not a knife you would want to everyday carry! At least in my own opinion... Cheers Mate!... 😉

I love the design on the 87 but the price is so expensive. But I have spent nearly as much buying both a 62T and Flytanium scales for it and a 51 with the Flytanium scales and trainer blade for it (still waiting for Flytanium’s live blade to come back in stock)

He has done blades for ELB Pro series and has done other balisongs before. Most famously his 29 knives set were all balisongs. Other that, nice video. Oh you most definitely do. Picked up a Morpho 51 a couple months ago and have had to put a bandaid on many times. Not really recently but when I first got it I cut myself at least once a week. Mostly from not paying attention

I think it's way better to learn with a live blade (even tho I don't mind mixing it up - for example learn the movement of aerials with a trainer, then to them with a live blade). You won't avoid the cuts if you want to get good. It's just a part of the hobby but honestly it's not even close to being as bad as you imagine.

I'm a bali lover and i have a different opinion on it in which if i had heard before i bought the 51 or 87 i would have gotten neither of them. I flip my butterfly knives almost everyday and i own a double edge custom by jason lyons , an alpha beast, a carbon fiber tanto replicant, a modded alt replicant, a channel alphabeast, a dirty dozen alphabeast, a benchmade 42 first production, a modded 43 by matt cook, two bm 51's and an 87. i own and flip all my knives , but the ones that dissapoint me by far the most and the two benchamde 51's and the benchmade 87. I hate the 87 so much its the one that goes to work with me everyday because i dont care if it gets damaged. period. its not a good flipper imo as well as the 51. both have issues with size weight and balance. i wish i didnt pay retail for either of them the second 51 was on discount so i bought that with flyti scales but issue with flippability wasnt solved. and on the 87 bearings should have ZERO play. zero zero zero. jason lyons knows how to do bearings correctly but benchmade does not. and you pay 300 for a knife that is a pile of shit aka the 51 or the 87. theyre both like a golf cart theyre made of metal plastic and batteries just like a car, but you know the quality of a gulfcart is worse that is modern day benchmade balisongs. they charge wayyy too much for what they deliver in the balisong market. and btw the 62,63,67 are all the same way. i also have a jerry hom basilisk, look at your competition benchmade!!!! like fuck. TLDR: dont spend 300 or more on a bali unless its a good flipper which is NONE of modern day benchmade knives, because you can edc it but you can edc a good flipping knife. the balis from benchmade are LACKING its pitiful i would say $100 is fair for the 51,62,63,67 & $200 for the 87. but not what they are asking you can find plenty of other knives out there that are better for the same or cheaper cost. and a good balisong feels like a fixed blade when open because the tolerances are tight and it flows better. TTLDR: IF I WERE TO GO BACK IN TIME I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THE BM 87. BM51 . BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT WORTH THE MONEY AND BENCHMADE DOESNT SEEM INTERESTED IN FIXING THE PROBLEMS WITH THEM , and when you go to resell your knife you lose your ass with the current benchmades, but with a good bali , you might lose some money but not the way benchmade does, thats another way there quality is reflected.

Im all into balis man. I saw a squiddy in your collection as well. Have you considered other balisongs such as BRS or HOM? The 87 isnt known for an all out performance flipper in the community. Some HOM balis have great bladesteels for EDC as well
