smoothie77 for all of us, it brings back memories of the sky in the Belgian canal scene and what the eraser on the Ticonderoga pencil did to the grid lines and hence the graphite powder lol but you found your way out of thatcas well

Hi, I'm a new sub. I've never seen a graphite drawing painted over with watercolour before. I use soft pastels. I would like to try out your method, clever.
@chriswhitehouse89825 жыл бұрын
Jon, great painting, love it! I do have a few questions for you: 1) If your goal is to have a finished painting, is it necessary to do that detailed of a drawing first? I can see it for the buildings, but for all the trees...For example, could you have just drawn a general outline of the trees and then painted them as you did? 2) If you are doing a watercolor painting over a graphite drawing (as you did here), do you do that using watercolor paper or use your normal D.R. smooth drawing paper? and lastly 3) Do you ever have the issue of the masking tape tearing your paper when you pull it off like that?
