Yuh. What took my fear of them was when I went to a Russian circus where the clown genuinely was just a dude in a suit who told jokes. Although he didn't stand at the bottom most of the time, but move through the walk ways between the audience and just smile and direct his commentary towards random audience members, occasionally stopping to talk to some people directly, especially children, before moving on and continuing his routine.
