Its actually the high heat that gets rid of the slime. I once had an old school person tell me "you gotta fry the hell out of it". Just turn up the heat and stir once it begins to slime.

I have known people who add a little bit of vinegar to help with the slime. Tomatoes are really the same thing. :-)

They’ve become a little hard to find now. I only find them at local grocery stores now. Chain brands rarely have them.

A good tip to deslime okra is to bake it...

If you boil your okra 1-2 mins then rinse in strainer under running water most of the slime will wash away!
