I have watched many videos and felt compelled to comment on this one... Thank you so much for such an intelligent, well thought through, professional, organised , structured video, the music so calming really helped as audio can be very off putting. I feel very inspired to raid my garden, yet give thanks, these will be a great gift to myself and my friends, many blessings, again my sincere thanks!☆

I really enjoy your video and I love the rose petals to get it done at its beauty. Do you have any sort of a chart that would tell what Herbs and the rose petals do for the smudge stick? I would like to share these and be able to tell them what they’re about. Thank you!

No, but you can research each herb individually on google

I'll have to try doing these! Because where I live all the stores with cleansing sticks only have white sage ones, and I do not wanna use those since Im not part of indigenous culture. (friendly reminder if ure not indigenous please consider different type of sage for cultural appropriation and overharvesting of white sage) And making your own is much cheaper and you can put your own energy into them! and you can choose which herbs you put into them. Also do you always use fresh herbs and then let them dry? And when you're done with it, do you just spray it with water to put it out? or leave it till it goes out?
@GardenTalks
@GardenTalks 2 жыл бұрын
Yes growing your own so much better! I always use fresh herbs and then let them dry because if you use dry herbs it’s hard to tie them together, as they may break or crumble on you. Use fresh, tie the string really tight because as they dry the bundle will lose weight. When I’m done with it, I either leave it burning to go out or just run a small amount of water in over the tip and let it dry for next time I use it. 🙏🏽

Question.. do the herbs/flowers of choice have to be dried out first or can I wrap from the fresh state and then dry them out?
@GardenTalks
@GardenTalks 2 жыл бұрын
They HAVE to be fresh first, and then you will dry them. That’s why you want to make sure to tighten the string when you wrap because once they dry, they herbs will shrink. If you were to start with dry herbs first, they’d be too crunchy to wrap

Me again. I have tied my smudge sticks with jute but would like to add ribbon for esthetics since I have no flower petals . I was gifted tons of satin ribbon. Would this be okay to use as well?

It might not burn very well. Maybe try it with one! But I think cotton or help burns way better

They're not really smudges though are they? Because smudging is a closed practice used by N.A. Smoke cleansing sticks.
@GardenTalks
@GardenTalks 8 ай бұрын
it's the same. and you can most definitely make your own smudge sticks, better to make your own especially if grown yourself than to buy and support certain shops
@MELol-n4h
@MELol-n4h 8 ай бұрын
@@GardenTalks it's not the same though. Because smudging is from Native American people. Ie, a closed practice. Smoke cleansing isn't.
@GardenTalks
@GardenTalks 6 ай бұрын
@@MELol-n4h Well I am indigenous & my ancestors used this as a practice. & personally I don’t resonate with the belief that this practice should only be for specific group of people, when everyone can connect with the elements of the earth. Especially if you grow & make your own bundle ✨
