@@Fanrondam Actually, the interwar period was horrible for every country in the world, not only the Soviet government prisoned the "speakers against the government", but what they did is released and reabilitated them all after ww2 period of recovery of the country. And what we got? A massive movement of anti-soviet chauvinistic propaganda on the places, nationalism, and a collapse of the system from the ground up, that allowed regional elites to rise their capitals and to exploitate their people. Also, remember that Soviet Union existed in the "permanent siege" made by the whole capitalistic world, with the saboteurs, spies, propagandists and so on.

I'm anti-capitalist, but why is it wrong to refer to people as human capital when they are serving the purpose of capital, ie, their talents are producing profit? Under any economic system, a person's abilities represent a type of capital, so it's a useful economic term. No ones saying capital is all people are, and referencing human capital doesn't mean you think society should be capitalist, but human capital simply is a thing. If you get a degree in engineering, you are developing human capital. Capital exists under socialism, it's just managed different it's products are distributed differently.
@loreleiofthemist
@loreleiofthemist 11 ай бұрын
@@fritzstammen4535 this shows a bit of a fundamental misunderstanding of what capital is. capital is not simply the value of work produced, but rather wealth that is privately owned by capitalists. thus "human capital" is not simply the value produced by the working class but rather the value of that labor that is extracted and hoarded by the owner class. "No one is saying capital is all people are" unfortunately you're quite wrong there. the term human capital by definition reduces a human being to the value they can produce for the owner class. it is inherently dehumanizing, and that is EXACTLY how capitalists mean it when they use the phrase. i have in fact never seen anyone use the phrase who didnt mean it that way, save for the many people who dont quite understand how the system of capital works. this isnt meant to be condescending in any way btw, i respect you a lot for asking questions and trying to educate yourself. unfortunately the way we in the west think about economics and the value of labor is heavily influenced by the capitalist systems we live under, leading to these fundamental misunderstandings of what capitalists mean when they use terms like this. we are taught that capitalist economics are the cornerstone of all economics, and anything else such as socialist economics is just a fantasy dreamed up by people who dont understand economics.
@fritzstammen4535
@fritzstammen4535 10 ай бұрын
@@loreleiofthemist I appreciate your respectful and thoughtful response, but I understand capital to mean any asset that creates economic value intrinsically. I took some economics in college, and I'm well aware that the education system teaches capitalist economics, but I don't see why this definition should be different under socialism and capitalism. Capital as I understand it still exists under socialism, but is owned publicly instead of privately. As I see it, a persons advanced skills in a given area of the economy amount to a form of capital, but instead of existing outside of them, like an oven in a bakery does, they are a part of them, ie. the bakers knowledge of baking. Therefore, I see no problem with describing a person's skills which act as capital as "human capital", while appreciating that they are also just humans. Calling it human capital just acknowledges that there are aspects of the person which makes their contribution to the economy greater than other people's, but says nothing about who has the rights to the rewards reaped from that capital. If you have any sources that support your definition as a better alternative to mine, I'd like you to refer me to them, and I don't mean that as a call out at all, I'm legitimately just curious to learn more. Edit: it's worth noting that capital is generally the sole concern of capitalist economics, which is why I think we might have a different sense of the connotations of the term. When a capitalist uses the term human capital, it reduces a person just to capital, because capitalism inherently reduces peopel and resources to their potential economic output, whereas an economic system that isn't solely focused on growing capital can acknowledge human capital as one element of a person's role in the broader system.

As someone with adhd, productivity is also something I struggle with. My mom often asks me if the satisfaction of "a job well done" gives me enough "purpose" to stay motivated. It’s more of an argument she makes for why my brain should produce more motivation juices. But really? It doesn’t feel like anything I’ve ever done was good enough to feel like that. it just feels like it was good enough for me to survive. To be like the others. I don’t want to work in a system like that. I wish I could just live off of telling stories and trying out new things I randomly take interest in. My fulfillment came first and foremost from talking and playing with friends, which includes things like setting up game servers, and doing creative things with them too (like scripting little games or simulations, etc.) A job, at the absolute very best, simply was a means to that end, by allowing me the money to pay the bills so I could do what I really found fulfilling.

He got into a new closed city (Sarov, better known as Arzamas-16), went to work as a specialist in laying telephone lines, found out that at an enterprise for the development of atomic weapons, staff with his qualifications were paid more and went to get a job there HIMSELF and got a job at the institute, where he graduated to a nuclear engineer. If he had more ambitions, he would have been able to grow up to be a full-fledged physicist with a degree. And for all this he paid about $10 for his entire life, if converted to the modern exchange rate, then even less (at the beginning of the existence of the Soviet Union, high schools were still paid, the fee was canceled when he was studying, so his family had to pay for one class out of two, it cost them ≈1/10 mountly income) And in conclusion: he worked on secret nuclear projects without being a member of the party and criticizing it, but not only did he not end up in the "GULAG", but he never even received a demotion Sorry for my English, I'm not very good at writing texts in it, I wrote this with the help of a translator

I have an MD friend that is working in the public sector because if she gives them X years they will pay were student loans. I know a teacher that is in the same deal. These people are too lazy to actually give any honest analysis. Hakim is spot on as usual. I've worked in hospitals in both rural and urban counties in my state. The rural hospital had to contract a very expensive MD group that utilized travel doctors to entice them to come. So poor counties end up paying significantly more for physicians and these physicians aren't from the area so they aren't invested. They are chasing money. Contrast that with the urban county, many of the doctors have roots in the area even if not originally from there. They make significantly less money than some of the rural doctors but are happier, are invested in their patients, and are respectful to their colleagues. It was a night and day experience. The doctors that made less money provided better care and were happier people and as a result their patients had better outcomes. It's the complete opposite of what capitalism preaches. If wealth was more evenly distributed rural areas would be able to get better support in both education and healthcare.

On the jobs and education point, it is well known that most Canadians with a degree can, relatively painlessly, uproot their lives in order to practice their skill (be it teaching, engineering, medicine, etc.) in the North of the country, be paid a premium for it, subsidized by the federal government, and return home with their cash bundle after a few years. Incentives and programs like this exist under capitalism, but it isn't made out to be scary and horrible (even if the reality is that this scheme is a part of the intentional underdevelopment of the largely Indigenous Inuit Yukon and NW province). Even working as a federal police officer will get you paid a premium if you work in a remote location. This is an extremely common thing, but the minute a socialist country does it, EBIL

@@Kingkongreviewz First of all, and no offense, but your English grammar doesn't say you lived in Canada for 10+ years. My grammar is in no way good either, but yours doesn't really prove like you lived in an English-speaking country. I mean, maybe you saw my comment and decided to respond as quick as possible with disregard to punctuation and things like that; nevertheless, seems strange (sus, I'd say). Following that, you say you've got an internship at AMD, not to mention your family enjoys the high class lifestyle. Now, I'm aware that there are these 20+/30+ years old "kids" that got popular on TikTok, Vine before that, and even Twitch/KZbin that live a luxury life, but even their speech/grammar seems more "coherent" (for lack of a better word; just woke up, can't think of any synonym, sorry). Now let's give a brief overlook of your life in a Western country like Canada and how it propelled you and your family whereas in China your family wasn't so lucky. Your argument #1: "There is more freedom in this system, easier to achieve". - I think what you're saying is that there are more jobs available for educated people such as yourself. Now why is that? Could it be that Canada has one tenth of a population that of China, and so the competition is pretty tight over there, therefore only the best of the best crawl out of poverty, to paraphrase your statement. Your argument #2: "this same dude talking about capitalism is bad never sat a day in china, Burma, etc where you beliefs don't matter but the system is your GOD". - From what little I know, the country has been fighting civil wars, one after another. There was little peace time in between those power grab coup d'etats. In fact, the last coup d'etat happened about a year ago, iirc. So, how do you expect people to live prosperously when the government and various ethnic groups fight for power every so often? Furthermore, you point out to a sawdust (a flaw) in China's eye, but can't seem to notice a giant plank of wood in the Western society. I'm talking about capitalism, of course. Don't westerners worship their Bull of Wall Street, the symbol of aggressive financial optimism and prosperity? In other words, people worship fraudsters and speculators, imperialists. Your argument #3: "Chinese people are more debt search it up." - That's your anecdotal evidence. Nonetheless, we ultimately go back to China's population. Too many people, not enough jobs available. India is no different. Which brings us to... Your argument #4: "The average Indian is more happy than Chinese." - Average is a terrible metric to judge something by. You can have a million poor people with the lowest wage imaginable in India and one billionaire with financial capital of, say, 50+ billions in his bank account. The average of that would still be quite high. Besides, a lot of people in India live beyond poverty line, not to mention that there are a lot of destitute people living in rural areas of India. Indian capital - like every other capital in any other nation - tends to consolidate in financially rich cities; this is why most Indians seek work in such cities. I've never been to India, but seeing as how this formula works in practically every country, I'd say nobody goes out of their way to specifically work in rural areas. You can't extract benefit from such areas, unless you're a rich oligarch with lots and lots of money laying in your pocket. And I'm just gonna lump all these last arguments together because I'm kinda tired typing in a pop-up window: "I rather liver in Canada 100 times over China, my town i livew in is 80% Chinese they all don't like their lives in china my friend movies don't reflect real life." - Again, we go back to overpopulation and lack of jobs for said population. Sad reality, but that's not my job to fix it. As to movies don't reflect real life... Uh, I'm not even sure what you're talking about here; maybe propaganda pieces, but then again, if you look up various documentaries, showcasing the amount of poor people living in America and Canada, it's kinda ironic to look at your statement; not to mention the fact that most of the American cinema, much like cinema all over the world primarily focuses on the so-called "middle class" and "upper class" livelihoods/experiences. How is that not propaganda of "The American Dream" and capitalism in general, hmm? The End.

9:41 "I'm suffering enough I don't need to see TikToks on top of this" too real 😭 But fr tho thank you for the content. I grew up in 94% white rural Appalachian mountains as a black man. I've since moved out and got a degree in finance. Only becoming educated and listening to "alternative" sources did I understand how capitalism and racism truly define modern America

Wait, her proof is an 8 year old making a tic tok? Most adults don't know how welfare works, let alone how it impacts society, let alone how an ideal welfare system would work and impact society, why does she think a literal child is the authority on this?
