Looks great, personally I'd prefer bed to be up 3" lol. But I absolutely love it otherwise! You mention 98-04 grand cherokee? Is there that much difference for older ones? I been around mostly cherokees, not grand cherokees, but I'm not a fan of newer ones with coil packs. So 98 or 99 limits options to find one

the kit matches the body lines on the WJ. So you could adapt it to a different vehicle but it might be a lot of body work.

Nice job, how did the interior turn out, does the spare tire well collect water or is it sealed. Also, the area where rear doors were is that space utilized or can it be?

I was very happy the way the interior turned out but I did a fair amount of custom work there. But it’s not hard. The kit comes with black carpet to glue on inside but I like to do a little more insulation than that. Spare tire well definitely will get water in it. That’s why I bedliner it and put in a couple drains. That space could be utilized but it’s not the volume that it appears to be so I didn’t bother trying to make access hatches. Recommend you watch my long version build video. It will answer many of these questions

Good day my mk4 manuel 5speed 1.8 Gti is making smoke after I've replaced the top gasket what can the problem be
@hestermannmotorwerks

could be a lot of things. all of them not good. I'd suggest a compression test and a leak down test first to see if that gives you some hints. Since you say you just did the head gasket, I'd look really closely at problems there.

I’ve like a lot of the kits I’ve seen so far but this one doesn’t work very well with this vehicle for looks .

fair enough! some of the kits come out looking more 'balanced' than others. And personal tastes are well personal!

How much time did you have in the assembly and finishing of this project? I’ve been looking at the kits but am curious what the practical time of labor is. Also, did you get the “rear” side windows in your kit or did you do that yourself? I saw another Smith that had solid panels behind the driver and passenger windows. Thank you for your time and EXCELLENT work! I feel inspired.

hard to say exactly how many hours. probably 80 hours or so. I did a bunch of extras and that adds a lot of time. Plus I was working on the truck itself also doing suspension and other repairs. The side windows come with the kit but if I did it again, Id just fiberglass them in or at least just paint them. The Plexiglas is troublesome because it is hard to get adhesives to stick and it expands and contracts so much more by temp than fiberglass that bolting or riveting it doesn't last that long either. It is purely cosmetic. The B pillar brace inside is solid. You can't see through those "windows". But it does look kind of cool. Thank you for your kind words. It is a fun build
