What do you do when you have a medical emergency and have to be transported to a medical center?
@mikestandard10148 ай бұрын
I will briefly tell you a story of my experience in 1960, the first year I was in Kake as a 19-year-old. I had what turned out to be an attack of appendicitis. With some help from a person in the city, I was giving a pain medication and a plane came and picked me up and took me to Petersburg. I under the hospital there, but delayed getting surgery because they needed to get permission from my parents, it was done and I was back at the cannery in about five days.

What do you do when you have a medical emergency and have to go into a hospital for treatment? I will tell you my experience that occurred in the summer of 1960. I was a 19 year old first time away from home working at Kake Cannery. I had an attack of pet appendicitis, and had to be transported to Petersburg to a hospital. I was operated on after getting approval from my parents. I spent four days in the hospital and then return to Kake Cannery to finish my work for the summer. It was an experience I will never forget!

That is still how it works today. We can get some basic help in Kake, but anything that is more in-depth we will get medivaced out.
