What delightful family FUN to learn recipes from! I am a 72 year old athelete, trail runner, but , inadvertently recently was diagnosed with artheriosclerosis, although I have not had a calciuj score scan. But a regular CT showed calcium in my arteries. I discovered the books and vids of doc Esselstyn and have followed the diet religiously for 4 months Now, I was already a vegan for 40 years, but eating tons of fats and oil, homemade almond butter and seed butter, seed oil salad dressing, and even chips and fries pretty regularly. The doctor said I had to go on statins immediately, but I held off, since I was not having any heart symptoms, even while running. However, my LDL cholesterol was 110 and total cholesterol 200. With four months on the Esselstyn diet, I dropped my total cholesterol to 120 and , even better, my LDL to 35. The diet works well for ,me. although giving up vegan fats has been a rough adjustment

I strongly suggest you never bite into a popcorn kernel that's either not popped or slightly popped. Doing that costed me a portion of my tooth. My dentist, who had to crown my damaged tooth, told me popcorn is one of the most damaging foods to teeth. I still eat popcorn, only the fully popped kernels.

I like to make my own seasoning mix for popcorn. I'm a person who doesn't have to watch their salt and so I use salt in this mix but you could easily leave it out. Equal parts each of the following: Nutritional yeast Garlic powder Rosemary Himalayan pink salt (optional) I place these in a high-speed blender and blend until it becomes a fine powder. The fine powder will stick to the popcorn better.

I'm going big on chickpeas. Buying lots of 1kg bags and I soak them overnight and then I cook in the pressure cooker. That way there is no salt added. I made a spicy green hummus by putting into a pot chickpeas, raw spinach, salt free curry powder, generous amount of organic cayenne pepper, apple cider vinegar and a splash of balsamic vinegar. I ate this by dipping raw celery into it. Good post workout meal

Your snack ideas are great. I'm with Ann and stick try not to snack. If I do snack, I usually choose fruit, steamed greens, or cauliflower bisque. Oh, AND I like to open a can of no-salt green beans right out of the can--almost zero calories. I loved meeting Brian. Thanks. It's so interesting how differently we girls act when the boys were around. When my grandma was alive, she organized a girl's luncheon several times a year for her daughters, step-daughters, daughters-in-law, and granddaughters. We had so much fun being girls together.

Trader Joe’s has Just Beets chips which are very affordable, super crunchy and yummy! For popcorn, I scored a hot air popper at Goodwill. I make salt saturated water by mixing salt into hot water until it longer dissolves, let it cool, strain, and put into a little spray bottle. While the popcorn is being blown into the bowl, I spray it with the saltwater and mix it a bit with my hand, letting the hot air dry it. This way the popcorn is still crunchy and gets a little salty. I found that spraying it after popping reduces the crunch, and it’s moist, and spices didn’t stick to the popcorn as well as I wanted. There are some varieties of popcorn that are “hull-less”, from the Amish Popcorn company. They’re the blue and red popcorn varieties usually. They do, of course, have hulls, but the popcorn is small, so the hulls are barely noticeable. Big fluffy popcorn varieties will have bigger hulls.

I made some great hors d'ourves (sp) and desserts for our after the Holiday Family party. Quinoa stuffed mushroom (my recipe), and your Angel Potatoes, and an oatmeal Cookie Coconut, Pecan cake (my recipe but does have coconut oil), and Cashew Lemon Tarts by Jason Wrobel. My Sis and Bro in-law ate a tiny bit of the desserts, and tried one or two (after asking the other one to taste them then tell them if they were good), and my Mother and Father-in-law ate nothing I made (they are your parents age). Well, we brought it home to enjoy, but I still felt bad. I will not give up, my health depends on eating WFPB, and I am very picky. Thank you for your show and these great snack ideas (we don't snack much either because we eat tons too). It did brighten up my evening. G-d bless!

I used to snack so much and binge like crazy, and now I don't and I think it was bigger portion meals. It was hard at first cause I used to eat everything in tiny portions and because of the snack I felt full really quickly! So slowly I increased portion sizes, so instead of 1/4 cup of oats for my oatmeal in the morning I now eat a whole half a cup! And I add more fruit and seeds to it. And before I know it it's lunch and I am not even that hungry but I eat anyway cause I should starve myself. So for me it's about making the main meals big and filling but good foods of course 🥬🍅🥕 and if my body tells me I'm hungry I have a drink first, so tea, matcha, coffee. And if that didn't do it, I grab a fruit but if I'm not craving fruit then I don't force myself and I go for pancakes or some baked good (you should try the cornmeal muffins! Or the banana bread videos!). Listen to your body and feed it when it tells you it's hungry. What made me binge was overthinking everything, things like when is my next meal or I have so much food in the pantry I have to eat it all. I plan my meals now so I have an organized pantry and I keep my mind on work and family so I stop thinking about food. Sorry for the rant ☺️ hope it helps

It is the other way around. Anne's husband started the food protocol to reverse chronic heart disease and Anne came up with the recipes. Jane and Rip then joined them in developing recipes/books etc and promoting them and giving demonstrations. I think Anne looks great, her eyes are shining, they are a good weight and remember they are not wearing much/any make up. I think the proof of Anne running around the garden speaks for itself and best wishes to them, they are being positive and trying to help people. Some of the comments are extremely ill-mannered and personally insulting. If people dont like them, simply dont watch them.

Are you kidding me?! An apple slice rolls off the cutting board onto the floor, at 1:45 Jane Esselstyn stoops to pick it up off the floor, at 2:01 she places the slice from the floor onto the cutting board, at 2:03 Ann Esselstyn picks that slice up and stacks it on top of the slices that are ready to be eaten. Come to think of it, I've yet to see either of these two wash any of the produce they're preparing whether it's just in from their garden or from a store.

Wasa bread is great. I love all crunchy breads and crackers. You can make great biscotti just by toasting your favorite bread and slicing into one-inch strips and re-toasting to an even brown ... My favorite bread is Arnold Oat Nut. It isn't non-gmo though...too bad. Maybe they will upgrade later if enough people complain. It's the most delicious bread for toast I have ever had, and just as good for sandwiches or just with butter. I like organic veggie chips from Vitacost.com. They sell only healthy pantry items and snacks, as well as health and beauty products. I love their coconut shampoo and conditioner. The list is so long ...
