This was all wonderful, & I only scanned the comments but I wanted to point out something you did that I wish I had thought of as a young Mum... (maybe it's obvious to others) I think it was genius to give each child their own deep unbreakable bowl for those car ride snacks. Such a simple thing but so helpful!

I am a newbie in travelling and I am interest in how you passed customs in Singapore with foreign goods. i live in Australia and our border security with foreign goods entering our country is tight, hence the curiosity. PS thank you for the tips, I will try some when I go on vacation in my home country at the end of the year.
@TheConscientiousEater2 жыл бұрын
We didn't have any issues. Sometimes we have to finish fresh fruit before we enter a new country, but they didn't question us at all. I usually don't have any issues with these snacks. The larger jars of nut butter I pack in our checked bags, but sometimes I'll bring a small 2oz. jar of nut butter for the plane ride as we're obsessed:)

My kids are very particular about their food. I always take some cut up fruit and veggies. Apple, cucumber, carrots, berries (blueberries work best, but they stain if you are not careful), grapes, sweet snack peppers. Also, I fill up wraps and hand them out. Banana and peanut butter works great, veggies and salsa, beans, whatever you have on hand. Roll them up and cut into bite-sized pieces.

@TheConscientiousEater2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! As for peanut butter, I'm going through an online acne program that I'm already seeing amazing results from. They are educating me on how different foods affect the skin and peanuts contain androgen-like materials which can cause more oil. I'm also avoiding a lot of other random foods I never knew affected acne! I'll hopefully be sharing more in a video soon:)

I’m going to do a full video on it soon because I’ve had amazing results and I want to share! Right now I’m avoiding peanuts, iodine (seaweed, iodized salt), vegetable oils and soy. It’s gotten easier as I find replacements and the results are worth it! Hopefully I’ll be able to add some of these things back in after the program is over, especially iodine which is super important!

How are you able to fly with the nut butters?? It’s considered a liquid. Are the rules different in other countries?
@TheConscientiousEater Жыл бұрын
I packed the nut butter in my suitcase, because yes they are considered liquid. I think I took less than 2 oz. On the plane and that’s always worked out for me. And peanuts aren’t a big deal here either way. Even the airplane food has peanuts! Not many people are allergic…peanuts are in everything ☺️

Your comment about avoiding iodine because of your skin seems contrary to everything I’ve ever heard about iodine . Iodized Salt was developed to add iodine to peoples diet that were not getting enough iodine through natural sources and reduce the prevalence of thyroid issues. One needs iodine to make thyroid hormones. Thyroid hormones are the grease your body uses to make everything work. I hope you’ve got other sources of iodine in your diet.
@TheConscientiousEater2 жыл бұрын
I wish I had been more clear when I mentioned I was avoiding iodine, cause I think I've confused a lot of people. Yes, iodine is super important and something I've usually made sure I get plenty of. I'm personally just avoiding it for a short season to see if it's one of my acne-triggers. When there is too much iodine in the body, it's excreted through the pores and that can cause people with acne-prone skin to have breakouts. I'll slowly add it back into my diet once my 4 month acne program is over to see if it's one of the reasons I break out. But for most people, yes, make sure you have enough iodine!
@helenp41522 жыл бұрын
Thanks for all the ideas. I'm surprised you were allowed to have nuts on the flight.
@TheConscientiousEater2 жыл бұрын
Nuts are always fine for us. I packed the nut butter in our checked bag though because it’s a liquid technically.
