Have you tried a salt barrier? - they don't like it. If you sprinkle salt on them it kills them (however, too much salt in the garden is not a good thing). Also, our local nursery suggested copper tape (copper wire is an alternative), as the copper holds a slight current - enough to deter snails and slugs. My father-in-law (a keen veggie gardener) used eggshells, as suggested in below comments.

Best method I’ve found is a collection of a few, I use well placed beer traps in beds with delicate plants, small planks of wood scattered around garden edge to collect snails to throw back over the fence and now and again a collection of seaweed as a mulch I never wash salt of as I found it not to be a problem as it deters slugs until first rain plus those extra micro nutrients in seasalt works wonders for soil and best trick of all is a compost heap as slugs and snails are natural decomposers so a food source that’s not living should help keep them busy ✌️😎

I use eggshells (with bait pellets, not a lot - the safe for pet variety or so the label says!) however my beds don't allow pets to access with all the netting. Marty mentions the rough surface - eggshells do that I believe. I am quite fortunate I have Chickens, and we all eat the eggs - Shells go into a container to dry out and every so often crush them up around the base of the greens. Shells have to be dried out. This combo generally keeps them away from the leafy greens - and I have good success with leafy greens. Can you stop snails and slugs; not all I reckon but I have a good success rate with this. Also eventually the eggshells get buried over time; amongst mulch and decompose into the bed. (Kurnell, SYDNEY based)

Try coffee grounds. Them as well if that failsYou could try diatomaceous earth as well usually because it’s dry that will stop them😅

In the uk slugs have eaten everything this year over and over It’s a bit disheartening as I have slug stops out and have been going round at night and getting rid of them with a torch, but I’m talking like 50+ every night and removing them.

Other than hand picking do you have any other home remedies for keeping caterpillars from hammering my leafy greens. I did watch a video someone created in the past month on the subject but I can’t seem to find it🍺🍺
