This years 2022 Chukar Hunting Camp led us to the Snake River and the Hells Canyon area of Oregon. It's a beautiful, rugged and scenic place where wild Chukar and Hungarian Partridge call home. This was the first big hunting trip for my new German Shorthair Pointer pup who just recently turned 1 year old. I think she will eventually be a good retriever, but right now she wants to eat the birds that I shoot. Lol! As you know I mostly post Fly Fishing Videos but I do love to hunt as well so occasionally I'll toss up a hunting video. Hope you enjoy this hunt, the scenery and the adventure.

Great video. Loved the intro. Chucks were dropping left and right! That's some big country. I've helped Sam pack elk out of there and the canyon definitely earned its name.

Great hunt! Love the positive attitude with your dog and it shows she is learning to trust you on the retrieve based on that last one. Your shooting is on point, (no pun intended), but I wouldn't have taken that shot on the single when your dog was retrieving another bird. It looked to me that your dog was well within your site picture. Maybe it was the camera angle, but either way, if you are a seasoned chukar hunter we all have pulled the trigger maybe when we shouldn't have. Not a negative call out, but maybe something we can all try to avoid. Thanks for the great video.

Awesome hunt! Was that a mountain quail? I WILL be out that way in the next 2 years, bucket list hunt for me to hunt Chukars and Huns out there, great video!

Thanks Tim! It was a young female California Quail. The Mountain Quail are mainly up in the Cascade range in forested areas. Let me know when you are coming out. I'll give you some pointers on where to go and maybe we can connect for a hunt! 👍

Good shootin! Bummed out I couldn't make it out to hells canyon this season. My buddies and I have been pushin Huns out on some BLM near boise but every time we flushed chuks they were wayyy to far away :(

What model shotgun are you using, and is it prone to jamming? I hunt mostly with a 20 gauge o/u and i want to get a 12 gauge semi auto, but I'm noticing that a lot of them are prone to jamming?

Yes lots of snakes. Pretty much anywhere you chukar hunt you're going to find them. That's why me and my hunting partners usually don't start hunting till November 1st or later.
