Snakes in the pond. I am trying to catch a giant water snake that has been hanging out in my fish pond, but manage only to catch in my trap two baby ones.

Great video, Chigg! We have suicidal possums here. Tons of carrion in the roads. The joke goes: Why did the chicken cross the road? To prove to the possum it could be done!
@SpiritBear12
@SpiritBear12 8 жыл бұрын
That just might be the real answer to that question. It's true, Possums do seem to get very confused in the road. Rabbits also do stupid things near the road. They have a whole field or the woods to jump into when a car comes. But what do they always do? Run across the road right in front of the car!

Also, I love and appreciate how gentle you are with the animals and creatures you find on your adventures. It's really wonderful to see you rescue and release rather than kill like a lot of people would do. I think it would also be really cool if you did a live Periscope or FB video only day!!!

Love your pond and was nice to see the goldfish. When the bird took flight, it reminded me more of the cormorants that we frequently see in MN. I'm not a big fan of snakes either as we had our share where I grew up. I'm glad that most of us learned to relocate rather than kill. Thanks for another adventure on your property.

Wow, for all of your videos I've watched I have never seen your pond - it looks very well naturalized with all those native plants and is supporting a wide range of wildlife by the looks of it. I wish I had snakes around my garden but we live too far North to get them in the UK. Garter snake would probably live up here but they aren't native so I would have to set up some sort of breeding program to get them going. Great video, man.

Thanks for relocating the snakes. I am a DNR agent and I can say most people would kill them. It seems the more educated people are at Poisionous vs Non Poisonous species keeps people from being as afraid and less likely to kill them. Snakes are a hugely important part of any ecosystem as the help keep rat/mice populations lower. The do however eat frogs, minnows,small birds and other small animals but they also eat insects as well. So anyway thanks for doing the responsible thing. Love your videos.

Those are Black banded Water Moccasin, the way you can tell is they have black strips that are enclosed in white or yellowish. belly's are normally speckled with black dots. Normal Water Snakes don't have black bands enclosed in white they are normally black and white banned. The newborn Water Moccasin don't have bulky heads like the adults do tho so be careful. Those are also very mean when they have hit adulthood.

Great treasure videos by the way! We find Spanish Conquistador items on our property every once in a while. A lot of it was tilled up in the gardens. Conquistador trails criss crossed everywhere in East Texas back in the day. Thanks again for the videos!

I want to work the local fast moving stream for Glasses, and GoPro cameras. There are plenty of jumping spots the kids use, losing their stuff in the process. My question is which way is the best way to hunt-upstream...or down stream? Beau, When you have to transport a snake or turtle, try to use an old pillowcase. The animal can breathe through it and they don't get hot inside like trash bags do. I used to have a Burmese python and I would put him in a pillowcase if I had to bring him somewhere. As you know, snakes and turtles are reptiles, they can over heat real fast in plastic. I know you are very kind to animals, so this is just a tip for the next time you may have to relocate a reptile. I don't recommend a pillowcase for weasel or rodent type animals as they can chew through fabric. A Have-a-Heart trap is better for them.
