I have a huge amount of respect for the pride Japanese people take in everything they build and create. I feel like pride in one's work is superceded by profit and speed of manufacturing in today's society. 'Good enough' is not a thing in Japanese culture. Great Vid CP👌

Yep that 3rd gen 4runner and old school land cruisers are a testament of that. Sadly, they too have turned the way of sh**ty craftsmanship…just look at that recall on the toyota engines

I USED auto have that respect for Japanese manufacturing but after 30 years of being an import technician I’m here to tell you that they are building some of the worst garbage on the market now. Their pride and refusal to compromise quality in the automotive industry is GONE. The United States auto market is so price sensitive and competitive that the Japanese have sacrificed their quality standards to remain competitive in the market.

@@prevost8686 planned obsolescence. All manufacturers are doing it. The days of the mid-late 90's car that's simple and will run a lifetime are gone. My 99 camry is just simple and works. I'd drive that car anywhere and I paid $700 for it 5 years ago. I worked at sears part time around 2011. A rep told me appliances were designed to last 5-7 years. I'd imagine it's 3-5 years now. Appliances used to be marketed as a lifetime purchase but the manufacturers realized that wasn't great for sales. The powers that be want your vehicle to have an infotainment system in it. I'd be willing to bet they do another cash for clunkers type program soon. Today's vehicle is designed to last 10 years or less. Anyway, if you compare a Toyota or Honda to the "American" equivalent the Japanese car is superior. We still make a better truck but you can't beat their cars. I was fortunate to see a handful of urushi Nepros tools at the Nepros 360 museum. Exquisite stuff that I'd handle with white gloves! BTW, their neXT ratchet has been my favorite tool for 2024.

Hello CP & SUNNY: Thank you CP for this elegant ,& classy video. I personally own 6 Nepros ratchets but they are working tools to make money with. Those expensive ratchets are one of a kind, very rare, but 99.9% wouldn't know what to do with them. A terrific video Chad. God Bless, & my best to SUNNY. TMP from N.J.

I’ve got the same Nepros you do and that ultra light one with the funky cutout handle. I think I’ll stick with those. I gotta buy a new 1234yf machine after all. All joking aside, the craftsmanship shown in those photos is breathtaking. Between Nepros and Koken, I do prefer Koken overall, but the chrome finish on the Nepros is pretty dang nice.

I have 3 Nepros ratchets, two of them are 3/8" drive with one being a standard length and the other the long length, as well as a standard length 1/4". I feel like the beautiful craftsmanship of them is almost a detriment as I hesitate to use them for anything out of fear of damaging the finish, but I suck it up and use them anyways. They're a pleasure to use, every click is so tactile and precise.

I have a Nepros NBR390L 3/8" ratchet that I won from Jeff's Garage Adventures. It is a beautifully crafted ratchet. I keep it in its box and don't use it. I told Jeff that I was going to make a wood display box for it. I'm afraid of putting a scratch in it. Those URUSHI handled ratchets really are a true work of art! Thanks for sharing CP! Even us Blue Collar folks appreciate fine art.

Hey Mr CP just checking this out. I see that you have the Snap-on palm ratchet but it's the one with the soft rubber but do you have the one that was solid. You know like the original hard handles on the ratchets and screw drivers. Who ever thought that it was a good idea is beyond me. Mind you that's just my opinion. Anyway if you know where I could get the older palm ratchet please let me know. Thanks. It's so nice to see how you and Sunny have bonded so quickly. See you in the next one 👍 🇨🇦 🔧

I just picked up a nepros ratchet and I'm not regretting, BUT to me its just for show. Its like they put their money into making a heavy nice chrome and thick; but little or no innovation. The back drag sucks and switching sockets is not fluid. To me its lipstick on a pig and I would never buy another. Love my Kokens!!!
