I have that exact 1/4" tekton set and love it. Been using it almost daily for over a year now and it hasn't skipped a beat. I threw a set of bits in that empty space which was my only complaint,that's the only thing that would make this set better. Great for interior work, small engine work, and anything with small tedious fasteners like you mentioned. And it fits perfectly in my tool bag when I have to bring tools home or go on a road call. Highly recommend this set to anyone in the market for one.

Recently became a fan on the channel.. became a mechanic earlier last year, I ve watched alot of tools videos and channels. One of my favorite things about you Justin is you won't review something without actually putting that tool to work. So many of these KZbinrs will come out w a "tool review" of them opening the tool that day and talking about how much they like it. How is that useful for anyone? My point, thanks for making quality videos and I will continue to watch!

I was watching a video on the new quinn screwdrive set at HF guy just took them out of the box gave a review like he used them for years. Many of my ratchets I coil nylon cord or para-cord around the grip area of the handle. I then mix up some five minite epoxy and coat the coiled handle. That gives me a nice amount of traction thats comfortable in cold weather, yet not to bulky.

The tekton 1/4in set was my go-to for taking with me to the junkyard, had storage for extra bits or a smaller ratchet, a blue shop towel and any loose nuts/screws or bolts for the part you're removing 100% worth the $50 I will say I'm not a fan of the ratchet design, I have the older version which had a shorter fatter 72t 1/4 that I removed and replaced with a 144t husky ratchet from home depot, fit perfect

I like the Carlyle ratchets I have, but the flex-head on the 3/8", bent handle version seems to give way and flex out of position more than I care for it to if I inadvertently exert too much on it, it's not my "go-to" so I don't worry about it. One advantage though is the ratchet head has a small profile. Other Carlyle ratchets include the 1/2" swivel-head (I hope to add the 1/4" and 3/8" versions soon, mainly for the 100-tooth design), a standard 1/2" fixed-head, and a stubby 3/8" version. The 3/8" locking flex-head is at the top of the "want" list right now. I guess the Gearwrench 3/8" swivel-head would be considered my "go-to" ratchet, I have used it the most. I'm glad to gloat about that Tekton 1/4" set; mine has the older 72-tooth ratchet and Tekton told me the new 90-tooth mechanism is not interchangeable. I have had that kit for almost four years and no bad issues ah-tall. I think it's a great alternative to having a nut driver set, also. Using the ratchet in the end of the driver handle has coming in handy, as well. Is your favorite wrench set next for a review?

I been eyeing the F out of the 25 inch snap on but fixed head I use i use 1 1/8" daily and the breaker bar is just OK. Gearwrench ratchets are my least favorite I've used 120xp specifically. I go with my long snap on 3/8 and sk lp90. I have doubles of these, 1/2 round heads i barley use now. I need to get in some quality 1/4 dr ratchets I'm still rocking a square handle craftsman for some reason but now I need a quality one I have kept my old craftsman tools and cheap stuff and modified them all to wired situations

@stever58874 жыл бұрын
Besides saving you a bag of money, isn't it a better idea to just use a 25" breaker bar rather than the same-size ratchet? I bring this up as the ratchet mechanism is the weakest part of the tool. You only need the longer bar to break the fastener loose, and there's a greater chance of damaging a ratchet mechanism doing that over using the breaker bar. Start by loosening the fastener with the BB (at half the cost of the same-size ratchet), then use a shorter ratchet or a combination wrench to loosen the fastener the rest of the way. If you need the 25" length of the breaker bar to finish removing the fastener, then continue using it. Just remember, they call it a breaker bar for a reason.
