Fans of all ages are overjoyed to see him in person for what may very well be the final time, and a crowd of near-thousands cheer wildly for the actor who brought the iconic sponge to life half a century ago. The cheering continues relentlessly as Tom's agent leans over and says on-mic "I think they want you to say the line, Tom." and without skipping a beat, Tom holds his mic, tilts his head back with his eyes closed and his lips in an unstoppable grin, and proclaims a passionate hearty "I'm ready!" The cheering immediately stops. A couple of fans give a pity clap but the auditorium is otherwise silent, filled with the confused and slightly disappointed faces of the con-goers. The panel continues to its scheduled end unremarkably, the crowd disperses to the other panels and vendor halls. Afterward Tom's agent takes him aside and tells him with every bit of tact and empathy he can, "Tom - I think they wanted you to say 'a little dab'll do ya'."
