A similar inside design can be made using Spirograph. The 150/105 ring, and gears 24, 36, 48 and 72. I haven't tried to recreate the outside pattern exactly, because I would rather have something less net-like.

Hi, I wanted more details about your free spirograph designs. 1) What is the largest size hypotrichoid you can create using set 3.180 and large 260 rev? 2) Do you have a manual for set 3.180, 4.shapes and large 260 rev ? 3) Are the wheels/gears compatible with regular spirograph sets? 4) Can this be used without pins or spiroputty? You are doing a great job. Thanks.
@snarlla7 жыл бұрын
Hi Abhipsa. I don't really know what the largest dimensions are (probably about the size of an 8.5x11 paper or maybe a bit bigger), and I don't have a manual. I really just created these for personal use, never intending to sell. People are free to use the designs, but I'm not in a position where I can offer 'customer support' for them, if that makes sense. If you want that, I'd suggest going with Wild Gears. To answer questions 3 and 4- The wheels and gears are compatible with the original Spirograph sets and they are designed for use with map pins. I use cut down pieces of foam board as a backing to stick the pins into.

Leigh Whitaker Thanks for all your help and sorry for bothering you.
@snarlla7 жыл бұрын
Oh, it's no bother. Sorry if it sounded that way! It would be a huge amount of work to create a manual, and I just don't have the time to do it unfortunately. Honestly that's probably way more work than the designing of the gears. I do have a spreadsheet somewhere that has a lot of the ring and gear combinations, and how many points they make (there is a simple formula to figure it out). It's a huge spreadsheet and I had it printed on 11x17 paper, lol. To do pictures of each combination would get totally out of hand though, because there are 1000s of combinations.

The spirograph sets come with a chart on the inside of the top cover that shows how many points you get with each ring/gear combination. There's a mathematical equation to work that out for any size wheel and ring and I'd made myself a spreadsheet for my home-made set :)
@wernervannuffel26083 ай бұрын
@@snarlla Okay. Thank you for this information.. This question comed to my mind after only watching several youtube spirograph-drawing video's (no explaining tutorials) and not using myself the spirograph device. Okay, the ring seems to mention the number, based on a mathematical equation. Yes, that seems to my very logic. Tomorrow I go for my first spriograph drawing 🙂😊

Ah, I don't know where those pictures are. It was on a different computer. From Ponoko, they basically come as an acrylic sheet, about 7x7, and covered with brown paper that is stuck to the acrylic. You can peel the brown paper off. It's some sort of covering to protect the acrylic when it is laser cut as far as I know. The paper looks a little burned where the cuts are.
Beautiful design...good job, Leigh! Too bad this is the only Spirograph design you draw here on KZbin, and I see you posted it 3 1/2 years ago. Maybe you'll upload more in the days and weeks to come. Have you ever thought of yourself as an ASMRtist?
