I dont blame you for going with the black. You will get more wear out of it and it's beautiful! Great job! I don't know tons about working with velvet but I have heard you can use a scrap piece as a pressing cloth to iron it a little. It will help keep the nap and not collapse it. Maybe try it on a scrap and see. Cheaper than buying a new tool 💙

Right? Though I do now consider the possibility of making another one in the green... 😜 Cause I love how this one turned out! And then I can try the scrap piece ironing trick you mention... so it's meant to be! 😅

@@bronwynemma you might want to invest in a needle board for pressing any seams. Probably expensive but it might be worth it if you will be using velvet often. Beautifully done!😊

That's what they're called! I knew there was something out there for pressing velvet, but couldn't remember what is was called. Thank you 😊

Re: pressing without a very expensive needle board, here are my suggestions. Finger press every seam open. Then if you have a very thick bath towel, you can very lightly press the velvet side down just at the seam lines using just the tip of the iron. Or I think you have one of those tiny irons, use that, but just with a light touch. Try doing a sample seam on some scraps to see if that helps. One more thing, understitch to the lining wherever you can even if you have to start & stop short of the ends of the seams. I hope this helps.

I completely blanked on understitching!! That would have definitely helped my lining stay in place. And next time, I'll try the towel and tiny iron combo, thank you!! ❤️

You look very nice in this vest. I'm going to keep notes and get this pattern and make one for myself. A pink plaid might be nice too.

@@bronwynemma I loved the lining fabric. If you make another vest, maybe the back could be the contrasting fabric...? Looking forward to the rest of the series!

Btw, I love the vest and how it looks with your outfit. I used to have a blue velveteen one that I absolutely loved. I need to make a new one, but black would probably suit me better now. Love the video!

Oh, now you're talking, blue velveteen would make an incredible vest! I've got so many random velvet pieces (and some blue velveteen too 😅) that aren't really big enough for anything except a vest... Soon I'm going to have one in every colour!!

Can you advise on the size pattern you used? I’m having trouble fitting these . I am 120 lbs, 34 c.

I used the size 6 from this pattern! Normally I’m a size 8, but that seemed a bit too big in this pattern, not sure about others of course! 😊
