Lacking the income for a £90k car(!), I'll be happy to swoop in and buy one if they depreciate in the manner of big French cars in the UK. However, I suspect this won't. This looks like a real push into the electric premium heartlands at a time the Germans are looking a bit shaky. Renault are rocking it right now in the electric era. I'd definitely take one over a VW group car, and I'm hoping the A290 will be in my financial reach because I think that'll be a peach of a car.

In my opinion Renault and Alpine are showing other manufacturers how EVs should be done....making them desirable.

Why use SUV as it isn't going to be one 😊 The current A110 could be perfect as an EV. Doesn't need to go that large. Just get it to use an 52kWh and it's good.

That is one good looking car - but - these bicycle wheels and plastic wheel arches are just getting silly now - and spoil the pure lines of the design.

I agree, but I heard the wheel arches will be body colored on the production version or at least be an option. Cheap plastic wheel arches have no place on a car like this which is clearly not an SUV or intended for off-road use...

Doesnt matter how funky it looks, EV's are all about how good their software is and traditional Car manufacturers are traditionally very poor at software

Renault now uses Google software in their cars, which is the best on the market along with Tesla and Volvo/Polestar.

Tesla’s over-the-air updates can improve range, power, braking, safety, and driver-assistance features, whereas legacy automakers’ updates typically focus on infotainment features. Tesla’s software is reportedly 3-5 years ahead of competitors, according to Gene Munster, giving it a significant technological lead.

@@Oklm23 EV software is far more than route planning and OTA. The Telsa software also controls the hardware which makes Teslas work so well. The whole car is integrated and tesla can make improvements without having to go to 150 different hardware suppliers and have them change their software to match

@@stevehayward1854 buy a boring Tesla then if FSD is what you're after, this Alpine is not about that and it will be 100 times more fun to drive than anything Tesla has to offer. And fyi newer Renault vehicles that use the Google system also receive software updates over the air (FOTA) that can improve the vehicle's safety and performance, Teslas aren't that special anymore and I personally can't wait to get rid of mine for something else
