This will replace my 2020 Soul EV, just that little bit bigger everywhere (especially the boot) without being a massive SUV, really suits our family needs. It will be interesting to see how the efficiency is in this being 400V with the 800V cars they seem to suffer compared to the early Niro/Kona/Soul efficiency, but make up for that with their stellar charge speed. As I very rarely need to rapid charge 30 minute charge time is fine to reduce costs

I have more important things to pay for like a mortgage and food for my family. Most EV’s are still far too expensive at least the pricing is going in the right direction. Hopefully the prices will come down much further over the next few years and this will filter through to the used market. Glad it has rear wiper, but would love to have seen an option for 800v architecture for charging, at least it’s an improvement over the Niro’s charging speed. This isn’t really a review. That’s why we don’t call it that. It’s a first view of the car in a studio, so we don’t have any driving impressions of the car. So in many ways, you are correct, and until we get behind the wheel we can’t tell you what we think of the car in general. However, what I would say is that if we don’t feel the specifications were at class standards as a minimum, we would say so. In this case, the car impresses on this first impression. But please don’t take this as an AutoEV review. It’s a Sneak Peek. That’s all. The review comes later.

It's always curious to see people in awe of SUVs WLTP range, when we all know that this range figure is obliterated by reality in the only context where it really matters : the motorway. SUVs have terrible drag coefficients and therefore poor efficiency. Sticking ever greater batteries in SUVs to make up for this is absurd, as it makes the SUVs even heavier than they already are...contributing to their poor efficiency in urban areas. To sum up : 1+1 = electric SUVs are an aberration. Please stop promoting them with such enthusiasm and never questioning their logic. No, the customer isn't always right. Especially when he is beguiled by the manufacturers to buy SUVs because they make a better profit margin off them.

You do raise a fair point, but what I will say is that Kia are great at making their cars extremely efficient. And Renault have really excelled at cutting weight out of their new Scenic. I drive a very lovely and easy to get along with MG zsev, (recommended sort-of by yourself) and for the past 2 years it has performed faultlessly, and one of the things I do like is the row of short cut buttons under the main screen, just like this Kia. Next week we will be off to see good old UK again, ( I left in 1964) and have not seen it since. We have several Scottish friends up here in Waipu, as it was a Scottish settlement in this area, and they are still very proud of it too! So my mate Robert Adam (! say no more), has suggest several places for us to visit. We will have to shorten our stay over there however, as the government has suddenly decided to have a snap election, so we want to be out a couple of days beforehand.
