SAME HERE!!! I bought this game without knowing way to much about it and loved this one! Excellent game from Konami. Anyone reading this, it’s definitely worth buying. This game is right up their with Contra 3 and super Castlevania IV

Considered it's a home console game from '92, the graphical effects look simply amazing! Axelay is such an original game and it shows the SNES' capabilities, like 3 layers of true parallax scrolling, real transparency and a few decent mode 7 effects.

That warm feeling when you hear the various stage music and it takes you back. I had a lot going on in my young life back then. College Uni, Girlfriends, side hustles (before it was a thing) work, and of course Axley on the Superfamicom.

Axelay was one of a kind as far as I know, I don't think there was another shooter or platformer that used mode 7 the way Axelay did, this has got to be one of the greatest games konami ever put out, loved this game, honestly couldn't remember if i ever finished it, but i'm getting nostalgia chills watching as I remember these enemies and boss fights, so i must have gotten to the end.

One of my favorite games of all time! Loved the music especially level 3 which was my favorite, never forget it! Levels 1-3 were easy once you got the hang of it but 4 was hard af and level 6 seemed damn near impossible.

The is SNES is maybe not the best suited system for shooters, but it has some excellent titles to offer: Axelay, Space Megaforce, R-Type 3, Macross - Scrambled Valkyre, Phalanx and the very impressive shooter-hybrid Rendering Ranger R2 are just a few of them.

I remember people trashing that game when it was released for being to easy, I guess compared to Gradius or R-type it kind of is easier but to me that just a perfect difficulty balance and the pixel art and animations still look amazing today.

I got this game years ago for 25 dollars, crazy how it is like 100 or more now. Graphics sound and game play are all fine..Mode 7 levels are still impressive....but for a shooter it only has 2 Memorable bosses..that weird Alien/Ed209 rip off and the Flame Cyborg Giant thing on the cover that ends up being a total push over....Also wish there were more power ups.

Obrigado aê Fabri, em todas as fases usei o laser de fogo (mais forte e em linha reta) mas para a ultima eu preferi o de raio pelo seu alcance e tbm por precisar destruir inimigos que so se acertam em pontos especificos (coisa tipica de alguns shooters), mais novidades minhas estão vindo, to dando duro nesse exato momento para terminar Chrono Cross (estou batalhando pelo melhor final) e Legend of Dragoon, entre os jogos enormes que citei faço uns curtos também. Abração aí, estamos juntos aí pro que der e vier!

Nossa cara, lembro q pra fazer o final bom do Chrono Cross, a ultima batalha é meio tensa ( tenho um amigo que quebrou o CD 2 de raiva kkkkkkkkkkkkkkk, mas o CD era meu :0/ , depois ele me devolveu \o/ ) vou aguardar esses 2 projetos seus, pois gosto muito dos jogos citados :0)

Tem muito mais a caminho também, estou aproveitando as ferias para cuidar bem disso. Tem um que estou fazendo um longplay alternativo (a) do Tiny Toons de SNES, só espero que a previsão que o Gebirge disse na ultima parte do video dele se confirme de que tem coisas diferentes zerando no hard pois ja tem uma video desse game aqui jogado no normal. I've never really liked that curved scrolling effect in the vertical levels in this game. I wish they'd just done the same levels with normal flat art and some parallax. But beyond that personal grip the game looks pretty good.

The North American box art is based off the first and penultimate levels of the game. The Japanese box art is based off the third and final levels.

27:00 Is that fire boss created entirely from sprites, or is most of it made from a background, with just the arms and hands being sprites? And, if it is using a background for the main body and stuff, then why is there so much sprite flickering? I thought the SNES could show more sprites in a row than what seems to be the case here.

I always thought this game was a bit uneven, with great looking overhead stages but better playing side-scrolling ones. A PSOne sequel could have been amazing--I'm thinking of Einhander.
