For someone who just purchased a lot of snes off kijiji and doesn’t know anything about fixing electronics, watching these videos can be very informative and overwhelming at the same time. Thanks for taking the time to do these.

Great video. First time here. Love these troubleshooting videos. I only have one con, dont like when music is louder than the person talking. The background music should be completely off when you're giving important info and only used when not talking, when you're presenting something, or showing some steps. Thank you 👍🏻

Surprised you’ve never seen one that’s audio-only where it wasn’t the capacitors. There are LOADS of “RF only” SHVC-CPU-01 boards out there.

@@emmettturner9452 yeah I’ve never come across this problem.

Except for some special bonus bundles, the non-Player’s Choice Million Seller Super Mario Kart went out of print before the cartridge was redesigned in 1993. Because yours has the updated game pak design without the Million Seller seal, yours is from one of those special bundles.

Nice fix, soon you will be out of chips. With so many failing😅 I saw you have difficulty with cleaning. Just warm the board a bit with the heat gun. Flux is much easier to remove when the board is warm. Last thing, get your self a better solder tip. The knife Blade shape is very useful to solder fine and big and connections and easy to absorb solder and clean pads
@PunkNDisorderlyGamer2 күн бұрын
@@taltechchip5827 I wash the board in the sink with water and dish soap off camera 🤫😂 And yeah I usually use a KU tip when soldering in these chips.
@taltechchip58272 күн бұрын
@PunkNDisorderlyGamer a good scrub is always good. If I repair an iPhone with water damage I always use water to clean oxidation. Works much better than alcohol in the ultrasonic cleaner. The KU tip is great. Much better and faster than the fine tip, flux will to all the work anyway..

what diameter nozzle do you use when pulling SMD chips; your hot air thingy? I'm trying to get Metroid 2 game working and I can't find anything physically wrong with it.

@@MavHunter20XX that’s a good question. I’m not really sure, I wanna say it’s about a 10mm.
@MavHunter20XX2 күн бұрын
@@PunkNDisorderlyGamer that's good enough info. It's my first time trying this and I was using something like a....5mm or less, was getting no where.
@emmettturner94522 күн бұрын
Metroid II? A lot of GB games just need their chips reflowed. A soldering iron with flux and fresh solder is all you need.
@MavHunter20XXКүн бұрын
@@emmettturner9452 I've done that already, like 5 times, nothing doing. It'll show that it passes the "supervisor" check and then nothing. Last time I had an issue with this was a broken trace, but I tested every trace and they all look good. I suspect the DRAM chip. I just got to find my nozzles for my hot air de-solderer
@emmettturner9452Күн бұрын
yeah, the SRAM chip could definitely be at fault here since it passes the logo check. Good luck!

Why do you save the bad chips? Maybe one day the chips can be repaired?
@PunkNDisorderlyGamerКүн бұрын
@@JDPeters538 I used to throw them away I tossed well over 100 chips away. Now I save them just to get a ratio of chip failures.

@@PunkNDisorderlyGamer Not gonna be rude like the last guy, but it is louder than you think and when you have audio from a game and the background music going at the same time, it is a struggle to focus on what's going on. Personally, I appreciate your videos without background music, as it's way more relaxing just hearing the natural sounds of the video and your voice.

1 second in and i already cringed......that pore 7805. the voltage regulator should be ok for short video test. i wouldn't leave it on for more than a minute but for just testing its ok.
@PunkNDisorderlyGamer2 күн бұрын
@@pandaofnom yeah, I can always replace it. I tried to keep the heat sync on, but it was in the way so I removed it to test. I’ve got plenty of spare 7805s, fuses, common mode chokes, and diodes from bad boards.
