U2, like REM, were alternative once upon a time (in the 80s). A lot of alternative acts evolve into corporate or mainstream, if they stick around long enough. My favourite Bono story... U2 were playing a gig in, I believe, Dublin (though tbf, it may have been Edinburgh or Glasgow... it was ages ago), and Bono walks on stage in total silence, and just stands there for a minute or two, then he claps just once. A minute later, he claps again. A minute, later another single clap. Then he says, "Every time I clap, a child in Africa dies". A voice rings out from the audience, "Well stop fuckin' clappin' then, ya sick bastard!"

Oh that sweet sweet nostalgia.... Every winter it kicks in for me and I have to play Crono Trigger, Xenogears, FF8, FF7, FFT, Parasite Eve, Brave Fencer Musashi and then I watch Evolution, Fifth Element, Aladdin while eating Gushers, Lunchables, Capri Sun, Sunny D ALL while listening to 90s R&B, Hip Hop, Pop, Rock and Grunge ... my GOD the 90s hold a special place with me. Square used to be on FIRE back then too

xcaluhbration What? That's like 250 hours of gameplay (conservatively, but since you play them regularly it's likely you'll beat them quicker than most), that's at least a month of gaming right there, assuming you don't have an active social life/work (who needs friends or money). Jeez, if you do beat them all good for you, but that's a lot of play time.
@xcaluhbration

wschippr S LOL I feel you, I have a kid now too so it's tough but during the winter I work reduced hours so it's perfect. The RPGs I'll play through quickly because I know the ins and outs after like 20 years and I stop Xenogears at the last part because I SWEAR, in 30 years of gaming that is the WORST FINAL DUNGEON IVE EVER ENCOUNTERED!!! Other then that I have some dope PS1 and Snes emulators on my phone so I can play certain games during down time at work. I made a vow as a child to never let go of my child like sense of wonder and playfulness; so far I've managed to live up to that vow. 🤣

I remember going to a video game convention in 1995 at the Pasadena Convention Center shortly after this game was released. I found out about the convention from flyers that were at a local video game store. Admission as I remember was a little expensive but it advertised 50 dealers with new and used games plus merchandise. Every dealer had Chrono Trigger material and I have regretted I didn't buy some of what they had for sale. The dealers also had merchandise from many SNES games including items from Japan. I bought a box with trading card packs from Final Fantasy 5, which is my favorite game. Dealers also had trading cards from Japan for Chrono Trigger. I just wish I had bought some because I have never sent those cards again since- not even on eBay and I have searched. Dealers also had promotional posters for Chrono Trigger from Japan for $5. Looking back I should have bought 20 of those posters. There was also a set of Chrono Trigger figures made in Japan for sale but I didn't buy them either. I did buy a set of Super Mario World figures made in Japan and I still have those. Unfortunately there was only that one convention. I got a flyer for the next convention but it was cancelled because Nintendo stopped the show because a lot of the dealers were selling unauthorized merchandise like the Super Wild Card floppy disc game copier. This devise attached to the top of the Super Nintendo and allowed you to copy and play SNES games from floppy discs. I remember other convention attendees telling me that Nintendo will shut this thing down fast if they find out those pirate machines are being sold here. Dealers were also selling floppy discs of SNES games for $2 that could be played in the Super Wild Card device. Gamers liked the machine because they could Boy Chrono Trigger for $2 and play it instead of paying $69 for the game. I still wish I had bought those Chrono Trigger posters at that convention.

Lol Ive always loved how Taban works on the super-dimensional-warp (doesnt that phrase come from Macross?) by frantically hammering it and Lucca does her thing by bouncing on her heels w her gun drawn. I like how the devs made those two animations and went w it for everything, but whatever thats the charm of 16-bit games.

FYI the mysterious containers have nothing to do with the Black Omen. They power up after you make a first attempt to open them in the past, and then choose not to open them. Then you go back to the present and they are powered up.

I bought a 120 on 1 SNES cart and came across Chrono Trigger. It was the 1st RPG game I ended up playing for almost an hour. So, I bought a reproduction cart of Chrono just to have it, and I am loving it. I was JR / High school when the SNES came out, but I was never into RPGs at the time. I missed out on this game and Earthbound, but I am playing them now. Love the walkthrough. Thanks, SNES DRUNK!!!!

I'm really loving the pc port. I get to play widescreen and I get to see the playstation fmvs. One thing that is odd is that one of the dudes just before the stairs to Luccas invention asks you if you heard the news, you say yeah, then I swear hes supposed to say... "Then scram!" which was oddly negative...but it's what I remember. His comment is completely changed on the pc port and I can't really understand why. It's such a minuscule thing. All other dialog is how I remember it. edit:huh...and the items are different on the pc version. I thought something was odd about the "Athenian Water" which is a Phoenix Down. I forgot what it was supposed to be called. One thing I love about games like this is how they cleverly recycle animations to represent something else. Dancing is also climbing a ladder, Lucca's fighting stance works perfectly to represent her operating that machine...and so on. Oh, and the layering of beds in rpgs, you walk into the bed and just something as simple as the blanket layer overlaying the character and it looks like the character is laying in bed...even though the sprite is of the character standing upright lol. Now the walking animation to represent people working on a table...such as chefs at the castle, I've always thought that looked stupid. ALSO, fuck Gato leveling, I leveled in the forest leading to the castle. Oh, and your comment about you having to talk to everybody...yeah...but it's games like this where it's not a hassle to do so. They don't make rpgs the way they used to, I don't want to sit through actual voice acting, I want to read it at my reading pace...which is really fast! I realized it's not just modern games that make full exploration of society a hassle, it's really just the cumbersome voice acting. I pronounce Queen Leene Lee-Anne, personally.

For the chest upgrades is not what occures its when. All obtainable chests that are present in all time frames r interlinked. If you loot in the past it vanishes in the future. For the sealed boxes it asks if you wish to open. Do it in the past and say no. Go to the future loot the box for the upgrade.

Oh, about the part after the naga-ettes, technically, the location of the hairpin is also the tell for using the organ. After you pick up the shiny, you should immediately think, "why is a hairpin with a royal crest lying at the feet of a pipe organ? There must be something to this organ!" So, it would be intuition if you're used to old JRPGs. But to make the game accessible, even a mildly astute player will take note of that. I mean, I did, I was 12 and Chrono Trigger is the first JRPG I understood how to play. (my first was FF1 on the NES)

Sadly you forgot to get the Power Tab in the 1000 AD forest early and @18:07 Honestly since spd maxes in this game at 16 the mere one point increase in speed from the Bandana makes it more useful than the +2 str out of 99 from the Power Glove. @34:50 you missed another power tab. Still this was really entertaining to watch. @43:00 yeah the long range weapons users Marle(Nadia) and Lucca's physical damage is based on their hit stat not their power stat. So giving them power tabs is useless. Also giving them magic tabs is useless because they max mag naturally at max level. In this game Crono and Robo's final techs which use magic for their damage calculations also have the greatest magic to damage ratio. Making Crono and Robo the best ones to give magic tabs to. As Magus, Lucca, and Nadia will max magic naturally so any magic tabs used on them are wasted. Power tabs imho are best used on Frog because out of all physical based fighters he has one of the lowest str stats. Geez you also forgot the Magus Servants treasures the speed Belt and Third Eye etc as well in the cathedral. You must have been hella drunk. Well you are definitely better than me at side scrolling and adventure game but apparently I'm really well versed at rpgs.

Does anyone watching this video have the Chrono Trigger Deluxe Strategy guide from 1995? This is not the Chrono Trigger Nintendo Players guide. There was a guide produced by a 3rd party manufacturer and the guide was not authorized by Nintendo. It was only sold at small video game stores for a very short time and not available at Captron World of Nintendo stores. I found out about the deluxe guide from a friend but when I went to the game store where the guide was sold the owner said it was sold out and when I called back later the owner said he never got any more of the guides. They were out of stock from his supplier.The deluxe guide was 500 pages with original artwork plus detailed explanations of every weapon, helmet, armor and item in the game with detailed maps plus a complete walkthrough and was a very limited edition. I have searched on eBay and amazon for years and everywhere else trying to find this guide and I can't find it.

The PS1 version is the same exact game but with a little anime clip in the beginning. And it has TERRIBLE loading time between opening menus, starting and finishing battles, and moving a screen over. :/
