This is a true story: I loved the arcade version and and always went to the store with my mom because they had it. I got the SNES version for my birthday, and upon opening and playing it, I was devastated. Obviously, you couldn't return open games to Toys r Us, but I was so upset my mom called them and spoke to the manager. Unknown to me, my mom brought the phone right outside the door of my room so the manager could here me crying. I was weeping so bad that the manager felt bad and let us return it for store credit. I got a bunch of GI Joe's and a vehicle, and I was way happier with that.

I remember I rented Batman Forever and the controls were so terrible that I couldn't figure the game out. I was ten years old at the time, and I was so frustrated at not getting the game to work, that I ran to my mom's room crying and begging to exchange the game. I'm so happy you confirmed that it wasn't just me.

I know about it all too well, played it in an arcade machine, in a bus terminal, they had a few arcade machines there at the time ( not anymore ) including Pit Fighter, it was way better in the arcades than what we have now on consoles, and there was a few stuff to use as weapons, it looked like we could fight dirty... In the arcades it was fairly ok, but on a consoles, forget it, it'd be a waste of money...

It's Imagineering Inc, developer of SNES games such as: Casper David Crane's Amazing Tennis Family Dog Home Alone Home Alone 2: Lost in New York Home Improvement: Power Tool Pursuit! Race Drivin' The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends The Ren & Stimpy Show: Buckeroo$! Toys

"what the hell am I doing with my life, doing videos like these..." lol, yeah, sometimes you end up playing something just for the sake of playing something and it sucks and then THE PONDERING BEGINS. It happened to me with The Mask game for snes... it was super tedious and repetitive and I just felt I was wasting my time... Have you played it? Anyways, I love it when you make (what I call) The Opinion Sandwich. Start saying something objective, then express your subjective opinion and end it with another objective point. I haven't completed Earthbound, lost interested while playing it. But I do like other turn based RPGs. I have played many other SNES RPGs and played a ton of PS1/Saturn era RPGs. I slowed down a bit in the early 2000s due to time constrains but it's not like I dislike the genre.

Hm, I see, idk then, other than the difficulty idk what could discourage a playthrough. I found it to be a nice breathe of fresh air after dropping some other Snes rpg's that I couldn't finish namely Breathe of Fire (no pun intended), SoM and Lufia 2. I felt EB's leveling to feel very tangible and rewarding, the challenge to be welcome and intense at times, and I appreciated the uniqueness of every characters assets/weaknesses. I kind of felt like a Pokemon game to me somewhat. It doesn't have the greatest story or character development though, so I think that could put some folks off, but the overall rpg experience I feel is there due to its unique/funny setting & challenge. Still, FFVI is the best one on the system imo and my favorite, but I haven't played Chrono yet, which I will eventually.

I couldn't finish FF8. It was actually the Final Fantasy game that broke me and caused me to lose interest in playing future games. And I love Chrono Trigger...but I've never beaten it. I know, I know, I'm ashamed. And Earthbound is the best game ever made.

''Space Ace'' was originally a LaserDisc (FMV) Full-motion video arcade game. It was produced by Bluth Group, Cinematronics and Advanced Microcomputer Systems (later renamed RDI Video Systems). Space Ace was first unveiled in October 1983, four months after ''Dragon's Lair''. Much like that of it's predecessor {Dragon's Lair}. Players are required to move the joystick or press the fire button at key moments in the animated sequences to govern the hero's actions. Space Ace was a commercial success at the arcades in North America. However, it didn't achieve the same level of success as Dragon's Lair. The game was later ported to a number of home systems. When Space Ace was ported on the (SNES) by Absolute Entertainment in 1994. SNES cartridge has limited storage, it ended up being a top-down perspective action game. With levels based scenes from the original LaserDisc (FMV) arcade game. Similar to that of the 1990 side-scroller port of ''Dragon's Lair'' for the (NES).

No idea why Ballz has such a bad reputation. It actually plays quite well. Its better than dozens of SNES fighters. I guess its come from a Nerd episode or something and everyone just accepts it as true without playing the game. You can make a convincing argument for why most games are terrible but Ballz played blind is interesting and unique. The circles doesnt look that bad. I appreciate the fact its not the same as dozens of other games. Ballz isnt a worse anything else - its a one off in the library - and for that, it should get a lot of credit

You know what? I'll say it out loud: you making this list makes me glad I haven't spent money on any of these games. I'm missing Shaq-Fu though, and some other nightmares made for or ported to the SNES. Waterworld, Rise of the Robots, Sim City JR, The Humans... and many, many more. Damn me if the SNES library isn't overflowing with awful games on the shadowy side.

. . . wait, Batman Forever actually used the *Select* button for something diegetic? What kind of three-day ether, jimsonweed, and Drano bender did *that* idea come from?

I don’t hate wizard of oz. I had it as a kid, and I have zero idea on what you were supposed to do. I went back to play as an adult, and I can kinda figure it out, but it just feels like a weird fever dream. Definitely not a good game, but makes me feel like I’m on some bad drugs.

Street Combat was actually the first Ranma 1/2 game. At the time noone knew what Ranma was in the states just yet so they removed all the characters and replaced with generic characters. For example the GI Jim guy with the staff was supposed to be Kendo, and the twin main characters were supposed to be male and female Ranma. The game was kinda generic anyway, but at least the original had better music and such and the added benefit that you were playing as the Ranma characters.

Man, I remember putting in a LOT of time on the Sega Genesis version of Race Drivin' (which I used to think was exclusive, actually). The frame rate there was better, but still pretty bad. Yikes. I played nine of these games (I missed the Rocketeer, Bebe's Kids, T2, and... erm... that diabetes game). Personally, I would have put Ballz 3D and Batman Forever higher on the list. And yeah, I fell for the Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball "cool idea" trap as well.

Isn't it crazy how many fighting games we had for SNES, and then a couple of fighting games for the N64, which had a controller that was better made for fighting games (ie. You had the A and B buttons but then the 4 C buttons which solves the 6 button issue with Street Fighter 2)? It's like they made the controller for gameplay that would never come. There would never be a Street Fighter on N64.

Pro Quarterback (1992) was "fixed" two years later and became Troy Aikman football (1994), maybe the best football game on the SNES until Visual Concepts (creators of ESPN2k5 and APF2k8) got their shit together and gave us Madden '95. When I saw Pro Quarterback in the intro, I thought, "oh hell no, he isn't about to put Troy Aikman football on this list is he?" Then I saw it was the predecessor that I forgot ever existed. You can enjoy the arcade feel of Super Techmo Bowl, but I love simulation style football and Troy Aikman was the first to do it well until Madden '95. I didn't live in a rich family that could buy a lot of games, so I got my Copy of Troy Aikman used from Hollywood Video for maybe $15 as a kid and loved that thing until I was able to get a used copy of Madden (difficult to do as anybody bought those up the moment they were put in the sale bin).

a little bit late, but that street combat game was a repainted Ranma game, which explains why you get 2 versions of the same character and one becomes the other when winning. I still remember that dam ed clown's laugh when you hit him LOL.

race driving / hard drivin' / 4D sports driving / stunts / stunt driver initially came out on the PC in 1990 when Intel 80386s CPUs were the norm for office PCs, giving them far more processing speed than consoles and home computers at the time. 386s were able to run the game at high frame rates ~25fps, and at that rate, the game was ground breaking, and the road construction kit was great fun too. I remember all the kids from the street packed into my friends house wanting just to watch someone play 'stunts'. Followng success and acclaim on the PC, 'Distinctive Software' ported it to the 16bit computers and consoles, but didn't bother optimizing the code; the result was dire frame rates, on amiga, snes, and any other hapless platform; it went from an exalted game to one synonymous with awful. I dare anyone who'se only experience with stunts is the 16bit 4fps experience to play it on dosbox to partially explain why it got ported to other platforms. I upgraded my A1200 amiga to a 28HMz '020 plus 4mb fast ram, and got about 12-15fps, which made the game ok.

Batman forever grappling hook is hilarious. As a kid we couldn’t stop laughing at that shit. I don’t remember if it was the SNES, Genesis, or both versions where you can do co-op with Robin, but I recall my cousins repeatedly doing the grappling hook and saying “mines bigger” cause it looks like Batman and Robin whip their cock out and piss on the ceiling
