Variety is the spice of life - and you certainly get your share. But like me you would be dead bored if you didn't get these sorts of jobs. Retired mechanic/machinist in Land Down Under.

Yes those packings with graphite are nice, though a couple I used i had to pull a few strings out of them, to get then to compress enough in the woven covering, as the one i could get was square, but I needed one that was rectangular, and a little thinner in the one side. The ones that came out were not thrown away, they went into Cobra taps to fix worn out gland packings there, definitely a big improvement over the old well worn ones.

Did you see all the chips on tap before taping and on the cap screws , unbelievable. Kit from down under

They were through holes not blind holes .. Chips are not a problem . The threads were good

G'day John. All the bits & pieces fitted in ok.😊 I realise the graphite cord has graphite incorporated in the rope, just wondering why you didn't put a tad of grease on the shaft before you put in & compressed the rope, to help in the assembly & help in initial lube of the shaft

That impeller is knackered. It needs replacing.

I had been wondering what that clacking noise was in the background for a while, sounds like an old shaper running, its the fuel pump on ya heater isnt it!? 😂

The rubber lobes or fingers look knackered on one side where it has been sitting for a while?
@billlewis97407 ай бұрын
Yeah, that's old and hardened and needs to be replaced.

@@billlewis9740 I hope the water pump isn't for anything critical as I imagine it wouldn't be working very well in that state!

@@FrontSideBusI grew up around boats and had a few of those apart. It used to be a normal maintenance item to replace those impellers.
