Snorkel intake for the Overland Bison - install on 2021 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison

For those seeking out a snorkel for their 2015-2022 Chevrolet Colorado, AEV has a solid offering that you probably cant beat for design and fitment. The snorkel has a primary function of grabbing clean air from up high and routing it down into the airbox and while its not a water tight solution out of the box, it provides a high pick up point if you like splashing in the water.
This is a moderate installation which will require up to 4 hours to complete involving cutting sheet metal and modifying factory plastics, painting and some patience. The results are impressive so while their is an investment in time, the payoff in fitment is awesome.

You are welcome. I am a one man show so there is a lot more I can do for production value, but my real focus is in showing the process and explaining what's going on in my head at that moment. I'm not free of the urge you get mid mod when you just want to fly through the install to get to the end and be finished but the one great thing about creating this content is it keeps you on the task and slows you down to the extent it can make for a better installation.

Hey Richard just installed my snorkel and used your video in conjunction with the instructions. Went flawless. The first major drilling and cutting into the front quarter panel was a lil nerve wracking but I must have measured and checked like 20 times. Once again thank you for taking the time to make these very detailed videos on all the ZR2/Bison Mods. Has made all of my installations a hell of a lot easier.

I am happy that it helped make it easier. It's always a little nerve-wracking when you have to make your first body panel cut. AEV does a great job is making consistent parts but good fitting parts mean making accurate templates and installation instructions.

I highly recommend a precleaner of your choice. They keep the air box spotless.

I had to make some modifications to my air box for the supercharger to breathe at its full potential and am worried the addition of a pre-cleaner might be an additional restriction . Do you have any recommendations with parts you have used?

@@exhaustinglife I have the Enginaire 4-125/465 precleaner, max rating is 465 cfm. At 100%VE that should feed the 3.6 to 7400 rpm NA. When I installed the AIT's remained the same and it is a bit quieter but does have a added sound of the impeller. Kinda a high pitch whistle I can hear at times. The clean air box surprised me, better than I anticipated.

@@madcratebuilder my issues are with the 1.9L supercharger airflow demands that are in excess of 120% of the NA theoretical VE (not considering blow by and other valve timing events) I'm closer to 550 cfm need for a no loss intake.

nicely done! Wanting to do this soon. Any plans for ARB twin compressor? I have winch solenoid and dual battery under coolant reservoir so both 589 and CCE kits are out of the question as you are haha.

Currently I'm running a PowerTank CO2 system and a Maxi Trac 300 LPH dual compressor as back up. At $104 dollars shipped it was a steal.

I have never driven a car i owned through a car wash, but that's mostly about my anxiety from watching car wash video fails. ;) On the serious side, I haven't been able to fit due other mods so I have no practical experience. Generally speaking I would not be concerned about the water issue (they are safe to operate in bad weather such as snow and rain) but more about the flinging brushes or the other drying devises which can catch anything that is not smooth to the body.

@@exhaustinglife I only go through touchless car washes and mostly because I am in a wheelchair and it makes it nearly impossible to wash my truck otherwise.

@@ZR2plowboy Touchless is certainly the way to go. Those flapper wheels and hovering blowers are quite concerning to all the gear I have on the truck. I would not be to worried with that unless your machine has sprayers that direct a great deal of high pressure water directly at the opening. At my local coin op I warn the cars behind me that I will be there a while and if they don't take me seriously at first, the stepping into my waders will usually get them to move to the next bay. I'm not afraid of laying on the wet concrete to blast out the remnants of my last trip either and the looks i get are priceless.

As along as the WT Colorado is a gas variant of the motors, it will mate to both the 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder airboxes (which are the same) and the fenders / A Pillar are shared.
