Snow blowing with Ariens ST724 from estate sale

Got a bunch of snow today... our first real snow of the winter... so I got the estate sale Ariens ST724 snow blower out for a run. As you saw, it started first pull cold. Really works and runs great. Very happy with it.
I bought the snow thrower in a estate sale this past summer. I did a bunch of work on it, and now have it "For Sale: on Craigslist for $300.

You do such great work, the machine looks like new. We just got about two inches of snow today, the first real snow for the season but it won't last more than a couple of days and since my wife and I are retired I won't even get out my garden tractor with the blade to mess with it. I live in the southeast corner of Missouri, about even with the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi River and we don't usually get much snow although 40 years ago we got 24" in one day.

👍I sure ain’t lookin’ forward to this white stuff! But I know you guys get a ton more than Louisville. We get ice storms mostly and when it does snow here, it’s a wet, heavy snow that no one enjoys! Good stuff ‘H’. Really enjoy your videos✌️

Hi there, Great video. I just bought one. It runs but it shuts off. Is there anything I am doing wrong during start up? Any help would be appreciate it. If you can provide steps to start it up. Thank you

Without looking at it, I'd be grasping at straws.... but being a snowblower, I bet the carburetor needs cleaning.

Check the gas cap. There should be a metal insert piece that tends to break off and drop into the gas tank. If it is missing look for it in the tank and if you find that it is broken get a new cap. If the cap is bad the tank can't vent properly so you run out of fuel. Also the fuel line hose from the tank to the shutoff valve (if you have one) and to the carburetor can deteriorate over time especially with today's gasoline which has ethanol added in the winter. I replaced the fuel lines on both my machines for safety's sake with new 1/4" fuel line hose from a local auto parts store. I also replaced the spring hose clamps as the old ones broke due to rust when I removed them.
