Fantastic, cohesive, well thought out test! 👍👍👍 One aspect which wasn‘t mentioned nor recognized (or maybe I missed it) is material safety as well as some health and safety related aspects. Labocosmetica Primus 2.0 (I think you tested the first version) for example has a VDA class A certification, meaning it is an exceptionally safe product. On the other hand, Gtechniq W4 Citrus Foam is marketed as „ph neutral“. However, when you are searching for material safety data sheets for that product, you‘ll find some which state it has a pH value of 6, some say the pH value is between 5 and 8, and some don‘t state any pH value. Such inconsistencies are a huge red flag for me! Dodo Juice ( and Stjärnagloss) on the other hand are role models when it comes to making the MSDS of their products publicly available on their websites, even in different languages. It would have been interesting to see how the inclution of an additional points scheme including for example such aspects (e.g. availability of MSDS, the amount and severity of warning symbols or P / H sentences in the MSDS) would have changed the outcome.

I did consider ranking on health and safety and MSDS etc, I even bought litmus paper to do PH testing. But then I didn't feel comfortable talking about that. After all, I'm no scientist, and as long as people aren't drinking these products or lathering them all over their body, they should be fine. Maybe in a future one

Clearly a lot of work went in to this one and your unbiased approach was appreciated, otherwise we could have expected BH to win. As no doubt it would have done if we were tuned in the channel run by the big guy, the BH fanboy leader. Here's my real point: I think the manufacturers, and maybe KZbinrs also with their swipe tests, have caused us to forget why we started using foam. My reason was to soften and dislodge solid particles, essentially tiny bits of "rock", picked up during driving, especially in the rain. All in an attempt to avoid scratches and swirls, and it worked. The cheapest and most expensive all did the job. Not my go-to but I picked up 5 litre of Simonize SF in Costco for a tenner, it's perfect. Somehow "cleaning ability" has taken over. Why? We're gonna contact wash. You have to. Period. If I need a bit of extra bite from SF I have my cheap as chips Surfex ( see, I have no issues with BH, just the fanboys😂😂) love to know your thoughts.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed.... I guess the failed swipe test I wanted to see what it loosened... As you say, they aren't necessarily cleaning products, but rather soften and lift.... That said, in previous winters, I've been known to snow foam, dwell, rinse and walk away 🤣

Nice comparison, one a side note; Primus is a prewash and not a snowfoam, NEVE is the dedicated snowfoam by Labocosmetica. Also, GSF is nowhere near 1:50, you reach a decent snowfoam by diluting it 1:10, that makes the price increase a lot.

I love Gtechniq Citrus Foam….as far as PH Neutral pre washes go I find it cleans better then most, I use it mostly on ceramic coated vehicles and use higher PH snow foams on non coated vehicles….I always do 50 ml of citrus foam and 500 ml of water and it always foams a lot thicker for me then it did for you I’ve seen other people have the same issue with the foam being runny must just depend on your pressure washer and foam cannon I use the Mtm cannon with 1.10 orifice and a 1.2 gpm 1800 max psi pressure washer….Primus foams a lot better for me too but I think you were using Primus I’ve only used Primus 2.0….with that being said I don’t know about the original Primus but Primus 2.0 (PH of around 12-13 according to my PH strips) has alot more cleaning power then citrus foam, still love citrus foam though.. I’ve tried adding 25 ml of gtechniq citrus apc to it before and that was a killer combo too….my favorite alkaline snow foams are Primus 2.0, Car Pro Lift and Maniac Line Foam Gun Pre Wash which is very similar to Primus 2.0 (makes sense since they are both MaFra products and have about the same PH level)

With respect, there were so many things wrong with this video, too many to go through here. But one obvious mistake was GSF, if you read the instructions carefully you were using the dilution instructions for a foam sprayer (e.g. pump foam sprayer). It does mention that it can be used via a foam cannon but doesn't give you instructions for that, but you can infer from the foam sprayer instructions that you should be aiming for up to 2% PIR.
@TheDetailingSpace7 ай бұрын
OK, in which case that should be made clearer.... However, it did do OK considering the dilution I used. So not all bad.
@KojakKronos7 ай бұрын
@@TheDetailingSpace To be fair when GSF first came to prominance all the other youtubers made the same mistake failing to read the instructions completely. But it does say instructions are for snow sprayer (be it trigger or pump foam spayer), and then after the handwash instructions it says "perfectly suitable for application using a foam gun". I find it slightly ironic that car detailers, whose raison d'etre is to focus on the details, missed that particular detail! Anyway most recommended upping of the dosage quite significantly until they got a foam they preferred (Jon settled on 50ml, Matt something like 170ml). PIR is more important for acidic/alkali products, but as GSF is ph neutral and doesn't contain caustic ingredients, it should be safe to run at any PIR level until you get the level of foaming you desire.

1:10 is 45ml, not 50ml (500ml).
@TheDetailingSpace7 ай бұрын
Yeah, but it's not.... Hear me out... Multiple 1 x 50, what do you get? 50.... No do the same on the other side! It's a ratio... It's not 1 INTO 10, it's 1 part X PLUS 10 parts Y
@BrianW16127 ай бұрын
1:10 is a ratio. 1 part to 10 parts, 11 parts total. 1 x 50 is 50ml, 1 x 500 is 500ml. It's still 550ml total, not the 500ml you stated in the video so if your doing 50ml topped up to the 500ml mark like you stated, that's 1:9, not 1:10. It's very simple maths & just googling it explains it exactly how I just have also.
@TheDetailingSpace7 ай бұрын
That's what I said. And how I mixed them.... I don't get the argument then as we both think the same. I always mix 1:10 products as 50ml product plus 500ml water. It's also why I never make a litre. Despite what a lot of companies say on socials, they'll say their product is 1:10 and to add 100ml to your lance then top up with water.... Consider most lances are 1 litre, that'd be a 1:9 mixture.... But yes, it's 50ml product, plus 500ml water. Apologies if I didn't say that clear enough.
@BrianW16127 ай бұрын
I might have heard wrong mate but I was sure you said topped to the 500ml mark, as opposed to with 500ml of water. Maybe just a communication error, enjoying the video regardless although some of the criteria such as foam/cling & user experience are pointless imo. Looking forward to the cleaning results section, that's what really matters 👌
