Hi Toni. The F250 and 8 foot plow is huge. If I was to do it again, I'd just go with a F150 and 7.5 foot plow. Trucks got to be lifted a little for deep snow, I watched a video where a guy plowing bottomed out and got stuck. I think meyer makes a plow called "Home Plow," for light duty use on your own driveway. I think you can even install it on an SUV. I'm not sure if it will cut through real heavy icy stuff on a driveway apron. Use studded tires if possible, BUY THEM WITH STUDS INSTALLED FROM FACTORY. I use chains. I think Goodrich Wrangler is the go to snow plow tire. A rubber blade on the plow (not poly, poly wear out quick) is becoming common these days, but does not cut thick ice. A back drag blade seems cool too. Change the plow pump fluid once a year or so, condensation builds up inside and freezes then the plow won't go up and down. Buy a second hand controller in case yours breaks. Shovel a few feet in front of your garage door, so you don't hit the door with the plow. One video I watched the guy barely bumped a customer garage door, and did $3000 in damage. Big back up lights are cool to.

Thanks but I do need a jack for my V-blade Meyer plow
@JimVincitore4 жыл бұрын
@@dans9228 I've never messed with a V. The channel Spencer Lawn Care has a V, I think he stores it three rollers he bought at Costco. He did a video on it. i made my own stand out of a couple of 2x8'x10's I bought at Lowes.

@@dans9228 Brian's Lawn Maintenance has a V too, but I don't know how he stores it. Great question!

Snow Plow for Beginners, Putting a Meyer Plow Back on the Truck
@znovosad5556 жыл бұрын
The plow doesn't have its own jack? That's odd. All snow plows I've known of have their own jacks to keep the plow level with the brackets on your truck

Hi ZN! Yep, no jack came with the used truck and plow. I bought a Meyer jack on eBay, I did a video on it a while back. I was told that's it's only for storage though. Using a FLOOR JACK TO PUT THE PLOW ON MAKES THE JOB A LOT EASIER AND SAFER! Thanks for watching! Jim

Jim Vincitore usually the jack holds the plow up when not in use with it level to what it was on your truck brackets. Then you just pull into the brackets, engage the pins and lift up the jack. Shouldn't need a floor jack to install the plow everytime. Only time I can see is if the plow came off of another truck and you're putting it on a truck that is higher/lower so it needs to be adjusted and jacked up to go in. If the plow jack is dropped on solid level ground while uninstalling, it should stay at the height of your brackets. Just thought I'd maybe give some potentially helpful input if it makes sense:)
