This reaction to the storm, was a typical response which is too little and too late.i was in it headed from Albuquerque to Amarillo. It took 12 hours for me to drive 55 miles just east of Albuquerque. When I finally got to more normal driving I saw the backup on the westbound side that appeared to be 20 miles of tractor trailers shut down because of icy roads and for the most part vehicles sliding sideways on the road and then blocking the road.
@johnb1282 күн бұрын
I agree with everyone, this was not a bad storm, yes there was snow that fell, but from perspective in it. I think that the snowplows - 3 that I saw, were 24 hours too late to keep the road ice free. As a result many tractor trailers just slid off the road, but in the process blocked hundreds if not thousands. By the time one wreck was resolved another happened within a mile. So through the day and night , there was stop for 3 hours then move forward a quarter mile only to be stopped again. The policeman were doing all they could do, but that was after the wreck. They should have had snow plows or salt or whatever out 24 hours earlier. Of course you are totally screwed if you go into that kind of roadblock with little or no fuel. I can only blame NM for their lack of preparedness… but not the police.
