I really like what you have done with the Grand Cherokee and how you are able to maneuver out on the trail as you can see there is still room for improvements. Good thing that you have a winch. Enjoy the Ride !!!!

Thank you! There’s always going to be room for improvement no matter what stage the build is at. But you’re 100% right. Only way to find out what you need to improve is going out like this and using it and having a good time! The winch definitely is a life saver.

Snow wheeling is quite a bit different than rock crawling. Momentum is important.

Right. Being from Michigan, I’ve definitely had my fair share of snow wheeling. But the condition of the snow plays a big factor in how you need to drive in it. In this case, the main problem was it had been 50 degrees the week prior, then had a quick freeze. The thin layer of snow wasn’t much of a challenge, but the wet mud below the thin frozen layer is where it got messy. I always tried to stay on top first.

@@engineeringoverland agreed. Dry, wet, ice, all play a part

In snow my overland loves it the more I throttle it. It seems the jeep likes wheel speed for snow and no speed for ice. It sucks on ice or frozen stuff. I have a 242hd I am about to swap in to help get out of awd mode for when I need just rear wheel speed.

@jtbuilds9176 currently building a 2004. Thinking of doing that swap myself. MPG would be nice for trips, also.
