Back in the early 2000’s, I was lucky enough to go to Whistler BC. Prior to that, I had snowboarded only around the U.S., including Colorado. I was a fairly good rider by that standard. But when I got to Whistler’s Nintendo 64 terrain park and saw their L and XL features, my mind was blown and I was humbled immediately. I had never seen features even close to that large before, even in Colorado. Towering. They absolutely dwarfed me. Trust me, everything looks smaller on video, and cameras cannot accurately capture their true size. There was a whole line of super kickers with lips _at least_ 15 ft above the deck. I remember looking at those features and thinking, if I don’t go at least 60 ft out and land this thing, it’s instant concussion and/or broken bones. Terrifying. Needless to say, I didn’t have the stones to hit the some of the L features or _any_ of the XL features. But there were lots of riders, skiers, and even _kids_ hitting those things and throwing absolutely massive tricks like it was nothing. It was a shot to the ego, for sure. It’s a completely different standard out there in B.C. Don’t be fooled, this guy is a pro and makes it look too easy!!
