I cant be more thankful for your channel man. I started snowboarding at the end of last month and by just watching and slowly applying your instructions on beginner slopes I’m finally hitting jumps and grabs surpassing some my friends. I must admit though skateboarding and free time to be able to snowboard was on my side. Still your teachings are so clear and precise that anyone who can observe then imitate a move almost immediately can learn easily

Especially when you get confident enough to hit the groomed runs full speed carving. Oh man that is nice. Oh and rails are also fun and quite easy once you get the basics of edge control and turning down. I'd recommend skipping the box rails and start with the normal rails that you don't have to jump on, easiest way to get confident on rails. Just get some speed and stay in a solid position through out. I'd also recommend a back protector, mine has saved my back from breaking atleast 2 times.

@ianmichael92244 жыл бұрын
I would just get used if you can ,except for boots ,I think its better to get new ones so the liner molds to your foot etc. And as far as board sizing I wouldn't get anything to big, smaller is easier to control when you are just getting into it.
@WantonMyth4 жыл бұрын
If you're sure you want to do snowboarding for the long haul, I would buy new gear - that is on sale. Shop around, check all the websites - even look at what the other hemisphere is offering. Don't buy the most expensive product in the line. Buy what's comfortable and will last you for a few seasons. Beware the second hand snowboard. Many are old, beaten-up and just not right for you. I would buy your first snowboard from a reputable shop, in person, where they will find a board that is the right size in proportion to your height and weight, and the right flex, and also not too hard on your wallet. Get a board that is easy riding, but won't limit you in your progression. I would recommend an all-mountain board.

@@WantonMyth actually just purchased off of level 9 sports have rented a few times so had a decent size range to pick from felt pretty comfortable on all sizes I got the rossignol angus that was on sale and then level 9s entry level durable but cheap g1 bindings and then rodeo boa boots

recently found this channel and fell in love. Never had the chance or money to snowboard when I was lil due to location and money. Now that I make enough and have a better/steadier source of income. Does anyone have recommendations on starter gear/a budget amount? For example I know not to dump money on the expensive stuff since I wont need it but would it be better to invest like 1k total or 2k total? Thanks for any help/tips :D
@Globmonster-tk3fb4 жыл бұрын
1k is fine for now
@EFakie4 жыл бұрын
I would suggest doing weeks of research when you first get started. It may be daunting but it will help you tremendously. What type of board to get? What conditions does each board excel in? Do I want softer bindings or harder ones? There a bunch of variables. You can also find some nice starter gear that'll last you a few seasons and you can upgrade a piece or two every season as per what you need/want... and watch hella youtube videos
@th3oryO4 жыл бұрын
Don't buy a 2k setup out of the gate man, seriously not worth it. Imho get a good used board/binding setup, clap it out, and then buy new after a couple seasons when you have a better idea of what you want. I myself didn't move to a 2k setup until more than 10 years on the hill lol. Also if you're including outerwear skip the goretex unless you're like Kevin and boarding on the coast, only time I get wet is when it's raining or I forget to clean off the chairlift
