Underrated lyricist? He is hated, he is not underrated. Certain folks hate his message, hate his displaying them in a bad light. People just want to be people, people just want to be the second handers of Ayn Rand, so they hate Peart and his lyrics.
@u.v.s.55835 жыл бұрын
Like do you even know how many christians are in the world? This very song is calling the self sacrificing Jesus someone who set a bad example... So the indifference they show to Peart's lyrics is an expression of their hate.
@entelechy20205 жыл бұрын
@@u.v.s.5583 this song has literally nothing to do with jesus or religion. "Christ, what have you done?" Is not meant in the literal sense of Christ himself, but a common expression.
@u.v.s.55835 жыл бұрын
@@entelechy2020 No it isn't. Peart is not that weak. Someone showed a bad example, made failure seem allright, Christ, what have you done!? There is no place for a different interpretation. My brother and I’s friend shot himself to death at 30 years old and none of us can figure out why, and hearing these lyrics and thinking about him must made me bawl. Sometimes it takes years to put a song lyrics to a real life situation and then the song takes on a new life, after 25 years. Rush will do that.

This week was a mess. Family medical issues that went from good to bad in an instant. I came home Wednesday, put on my Rush shirt, crawled into bed and haven't taken it off. From Wednesday things felt like they getting more out of control. I woke up from a nap Friday afternoon, sat on the end of the bed and felt like I was in the Twilight zone. Everything was so out of whack. I felt like I was going crazy. I considered calling my therapist. I picked up my phone, it buzzed letting me know I had messages...….There it was, Neil Peart had died. It all made sense now why the cosmic forces were so out of line. What does it feel like, leading up to grief touching the planet from one side to the other, top to bottom? Im now struggling to regain my balance. The world lost a true treasure. He was an artist with a gift so rare, the ability to unify people rich or poor, any race, gender, religion, sexual orientation simply by saying his name. That's what we do. We keep saying his name. Its how we move on from this.

Lee, a guitarra etérea e sublime de Alex e a bateria preenchendo todas as lacunas existentes! O vocal com um eco discreto e a letra incrível de Neil deixa a música com uma atmosfera única! I was also dating a woman who had the same emotional illness that I have. I got mine from PTSD in the military, she got hers during her adolescence/hormone changes while developing and growing up. We met in college during our 20s and it didn't work, we split amicably. She lost her fight against it on Christmas Eve 2016. She never was a RUSH fan but I wish she heard this song. Now the memories and the horrors of upcoming trump dictatorshit (which I served during the 80s so it WOULDN'T happen, but it did!) and all this - it cuts my guts and brings tears to my eyes.
