I cried when watching this episode. I was tucked into all my blankets with my entire body clenched. It felt like the whole show was ending, not just the season, and I wasn't ready for that. My girlfriend was sat there completely stunned, and neither of us knew what to say. It was an incredible journey through the first 2 seasons, and season 3 was an excellent end to that era. I am so excited to see what Season 4 brings to the table, as everything is going to be different now!

Admittedly, that bridge was probably is rough shape but i still say they came in WAYYY to hot for unknown trackage. Plus, with Big Alice pushing the cars, there really is no way to see that far up the train for a forward line of sight.

One of the few things I didn't like about the ending was that Ben and Javi should've been in different trains in the end. Ben was hurt by Mel's betrayal, Javi was hurt by Layton's lie, they wouldn't have let go of either of these that easily. Plus I kinda wish LJ got a sliver of redemption just like Os did...

Melanie was ultimately right too in the end: Snowpiercer never would've survived that. Big Alice has got only 50 or 60 cars or so with what she took from Snowpiercer and she barely made it. 1,029 cars never would've survived that journey. The Pirate Train might've done a lot better at only 10 cars, but they didn't have the resources left to check this place out. AND that Old Trestle Bridge was just utterly wrecked too. Snowpiercer would've just derailed and killed everyone in the process doing that.

Yeah but if feels like it’s a synonym when humans first climbed the highest mountain in the world and tried to breathe it’s air (eventhough the air is thin up there). A great discovery for humans. But in this apocalyptic world, passengers started to breathe and feel the heat of the sun for the first time after 7+ years trapped inside the train.

Are there still plants and animals in New Eden. Did it freeze completely, killing everything and then started to warm up? Or is there still life there. I hope they explore further into the valley and find trees and birds and insects and animals. A new world needs nature to survive. Also I hope Big Alice was given enough of Ag Sec to set up a good agricultural centre in New Eden. So glad they got there!

Yes. If I understand correctly New Eden did become frozen like everywhere else on the planet. However it's the first and only place to have thawed from the brink.

in terms of the plants and animals: no. Both froze to death. However they can bring the animals left from the train and breed them outside in New Eden. They can also bring the plant life from big Alice and the decoupled Snowpiercer cars and harvest/multiply them outside as well. Humanity will thrive even with the tiny pocket of new Edens size.

It froze completely just like the rest of the world. But the CW7 started breaking up in the atmosphere, resulting in warm spots all over the world, at least 6 of them. I had honestly thought that Australia might be a good place from the map in Melanie's data, but I guess not all of the warm spots met the qualifications for checking out for possibly supporting life. The other 5 that they checked out were unsuitable with the one seen in the premiere needing another century or so before it was good enough even though it was warming up.

Really loved this season finale and It was a miracle that New Eden was actually safe. To be honest, I highly doubted that New Eden was actually habitable and warm, since the rest of the world is still extremely cold. Plus in the fact that it has only been seven years since CW7 was released and it might've just started falling down from the atmosphere at the start of the series, with those facts, it makes the possibility for New Eden to be highly unlikely "at the moment", for the planet was still in the process of warming and if Layton and the others decided to wait for a few more years then a habitable warm spot might've appeared where they can reach without the threat of derailing, that way they would get moving again before they freeze to death if their warm spot still isn't suitable for recolonization. I kind of wished this was how it went instead of Layton and Melanie going their separate ways, for it would give the potential for more seasons and actually more trains out there like in the comics, but this is just my opinion, and I love the show the way it is.

Wilford mentioned spending months in a shed getting her ready to go when the world ended and he got left behind. Even if they repair it though, I'm not sure where she can go: that old trestle bridge is very clearly wrecked.

For anyone who doesn't know why they couldn't slow down, the old bridge would've broke and collasped due to how heavy Big Alice is. Though the reason why there was so much tension cause even though Big Alice could go fast enough, the rails were old and going too fast would cause it to derail which it did, it was either do or die.

I don’t see how any train even one over 1000 cars long can support enough food for over 2000 people. How does it grow enough food? Where does the meat come from? What about fresh water? Where do they get enough drinking water for so many people every day?

Good part of the train (in the series they said it was 12 if I remember) are gardening houses and farms where they grow enough food. They have Lambs, fish, bunnies and chicken in carts dedicated to farming. And they have water storage where they extract the iced water from outside.

well obviously it's pretty easy to poke all sorts of holes in the economics of the train but like the whole point of Season 1 was: the train was designed to sustain the paying passengers, with farm cars kettle cars, and so on, and the tailies were messing that math up big time and were only fed with whatever disgusting junk the others were providing them. (Also, water... just melting ice and snow? Wilford and Melanie _probably_ thought about how to do that.)

look at bottom left at 0:37, you can see quite big height difference there. Also probably that area was always warmer than other places on Earth and there were deep waters so bridge was needed. And/or these waters weren't fully frozen cause of underground waters which could have higher temperature.

It was like that, but not fully. They tried to quickly skip that bridge which is destroyed under weight of Big Alice. They move slow - they crush earlier, than the needed destination. Frontal parts of train already stepped into normal rails, and Big Alice (and entire tail) were pulled by entire train. Kinda hard to explain with my bad english.

First of all, Layton knows that the dream isn't true: he figured that out a few episodes ago and lost faith but Asha told him to keep going with her last words. No, what this is is a lot more than that. The CW7, the thing that froze the planet in the first place, is breaking up in the atmosphere causing warm spots where its potentially habitable again, at least enough to recolonize. That's been scientifically proven. There were 6 potential warm spots, but the other 5 won't be ready for at least another century. Rewatching the scene where Bennett first mentioned the Horn of Africa one, the last of them, he actually said that the data about that particular one was pretty promising and that was BEFORE Layton realized that his dream had to do with that. They planned to go back to Snowpiercer and take the entire train there BEFORE Layton realized what that tree was. And they didn't go there expecting sunshine and rainbows, just somewhere warm enough to recolonize. In MULTIPLE EPISODES they talk about creating life support systems for their new colony. Javi and Sykes were assigned to work together on that by Bennett. Miles told Josie in season 2 that he was working on that too before she got sent to Big Alice for treatment. They didn't expect to find it that warm I think, just with a temperature high enough not to almost immediately kill them. Even if it WAS just -10 to -5, that would be survivable enough to build a colony on. Hell, people survive those kinds of temperatures in THIS WORLD. Not ideal, but good enough. Alex said that this valley which is located in the middle of that warm spot has got its own microclimate. Whatever that means. So it's probably a lot better than they were actually expecting. I mean even I wasn't expecting them to find this, just somewhere with a not-totally lethal temperature which is what they had wanted.

@@dullinator1059 we don't know how long this trestle bridge was,when Javi mentioned it some cars were on tht bridge which means bridge is few miles long what can be a difference for climate,plus storm was covering it so it couldn't be seen nor to be measured tht there is a warm spot
