SnowRunner Hard Mode [S06E26] Aftermath of the Hurrican Task in Black Badger Lake, Wisconsin

Congrats on 1k subs, Atlay. 😊Gotta love the geography/weather of Snowrunner. Tornadoes? Sure. But hurricanes in Wisconsin? Uh ok, game. 😆 Although, in the post apocalyptic nigh ghost world of Snowrunner, maybe things truly have changed enough for that to happen. We're all just driving in Stephen King's nightmare world, right? 😝 Great driving, albeit nail biting cliff race with the Pike. It managed to soldier on, right up to finishing. Many a bonk on cliff later, victory for Atlay and the Pike. The thing is, never know what you can get away with in Snowrunner. I've hit a little bit of shrubbery and done like 30 damage or more going snails pace slow, versus ramming speed antics in the K700 trying to get the K7M on its wheels and zero damage to myself (please, devs, if you magically see this comment somehow, more winch points on the tractors. Recovering the K7M can be like spinning a top rather than a solid point to grab and get upright). Next phase could be nice, maps seem pretty. And they're adding the non-branded Oshkosh HEMTT equivalent (a hopefully capable 8x8 US truck in game? Wow) and another unbranded Maz knockoff. Still wanna fix the roads properly, same with those bridges we couldn't repair. Fully get highway routes open (zones to drive over to prep and pave perhaps), make the highway trucks more worthwhile and not glorified paperweights (or needing modded versions with more offroad capabilities). And add farming and more crops/seed choices, kind of like logging was added in after. Sure that would mean reusing old maps, but maybe kind of almost victory tour, region fully restored and all. Racing as in Tennessee was the only thing that didn't appeal to me, as the game simply doesn't have the physics and damage calculations down reliably enough to handle going all out with speed. Also why I've never been crazy about the contests. Gold is nice, but completion is all I care about in this when a bit of harmless shrubbery or flowers can delete parts of my vehicle. For speed and racing the clock/others, I'll stick to Gran Turismo, Forza, NFS, etc etc. I've been meaning to catch up on the Satisfactory videos, I just don't have the game so it's like, "Yes, good job Atlay. Looks neat, I'm totally lost in this one." 😆

And thanks for the support, it really helps keep me going. 😊 Yeah, I wondered about how likely hurricanes are in Wisconsin, but I'm not familiar with US weather maps... neither are the dev's, it seems! That cliff race was pretty tense, but I think the Pike doesn't have loads of health points anyway, and was damaged going into it. I'm glad to have completed that content, and also glad I got to experience driving such a broken truck,.. was fun. 😁 Thing is about year three, it's blimmin' months away for me! It just dawned on me today that I have a whole FIVE more regions yet! I have not even completed the year 1 pass regions! Not sure I realised what a slog this game would be when I started! Satisfactory is a brilliant game, and would be easy for you to grasp. I think you would enjoy playing it, as it's very analytical. That said, I understand that it's a completely different genre and not everyone will cross over. It's all good. 👍🏼😊

Anytime, Atlay. 😊 So, if you haven't looked at the US map for where it is, Wisconsin is technically a midwestern state I think. It's up by the great lakes (Lake Michigan and Lake Superior) and super close to Canada's border (closest province would be Ontario). I wasn't sure if it was a familiarity with weather thing for the devs, or maybe a language barrier/translation thing. If the game ever gets to be too much of a slog for you, normally, I'd say "Take as many breaks as you need so it doesn't become too much of a slog. Want it to still be fun for you." But I get from a content creator angle, less of option, I suppose. I'd still have the same take, mind you, about time off. But as a different kind of content creator, I get the other side of it. Not that I'm the best at keeping to any kind of schedule. Long overdue, myself, for putting out some stuff. Chalk it up to cliche reclusive artist shenanigans. 😆 I'll just be, uh, hiding this mad side idea of trying to get a truck I'm currently inexplicably obsessing about in game, despite not being a pro at Blender (and not enough reference images). 😆Pay no attention to the big old truck, folks, I'm totally writing stories like I should be. Yup. Nothing to see here. 🤪 Still, hoping you taking time off and other things will be options for you. I guess the good news for you though, you're well on your way to being done here in Wisconsin, if I'm not mistaken. That and apart from Amur and the Glades (4 maps each, Amur being a challenge, Glades fairly forgiving all things considered), the rest of the content ahead (so far) are mostly only two maps, including looks like Ontario. With Tennessee being only one map. The longest thing I can think of on the horizon, and I could be wrong compared to other stuff (since I did rush through the first time for goodies), will be the Tayga B unlock. Since I think you've done it already on normal, you know what that's gonna be like. Not exactly a single task major job like stuff in Yukon, but a somewhat lengthy chain of jobs for it and prep to do it all. Oh yeah, Satisfactory looks quite good. Be a while till I'm likely to get it (cue classic cartoon moth flying out of wallet), but what I saw of the first few episodes so far looked nice. Good thing is, I'll have a lot of episodes of you playing it to binge.

Did it the self pub route a while back via Amazon, but wacky life stuff (basically boring red tape) means can't get paid for the work right now, so I tend not to make a fuss about it anywhere till I get things sorted. It's also due for some changes and a re-release. Anyway, it's sci-fi/fantasy genre. Got a fair amount of the series written (most of the last book, all of a prequel, chunks of the others), but not being able to get paid for it right now kind of puts a damper on finishing. And me doing all the heavy lifting, since I couldn't hire out for art, formatting, etc. Labor of love, but I'd still like to maybe benefit from sales. So, meanwhile, instead I get distracted by various things like trying my hand at 3d modeling a truck I want in game or something. 😆 Sure I can't get paid doing that (badly) either, but for now about the only way I'll be driving the beast I have my eye on. If I ever finish it. 😅 Started with a creative commons attribution model of one close-ish, but it's not exactly right, so trying to get it more like the one I'm thinking of.

@@lexablack2316 Very interesting. I am a voracious reader, with sci-fi/fantasy being one of the genres on my list, along with horror, detective stories and anything random that appeals. I quite often pick up lesser known authors on the Kindle store and find some real gems, as well as my usual establised authors. Hopefully you get your butt in gear and finish it. I'd love to read it. 😝👍🏼

Nice work on the cliff race! I attempted that in the Voron Grad with OHD1's and failed miserably 🤣😅, rolled off the cliff once and I just couldn't get up that first little bump. I might try the F750 since I haven't unlocked the Pike just yet 😊

​@@AtlayGaming Yeah for this particular one I will be happy with a bronze, I have really low expectations for this contest 😂. If it didn't take so long to get to the location I'd try an assortment of trucks to find the best one, but I'm in Normal too so I don't have to contend with damage.

Man the Pike took a beating on that contest, the Tatarin would have probably been better. Bronze or not you got it done and that’s all that matter. Great show, love it.🤘😬🤘

I've noticed that when you go to the map with active objectives it shows yellow circles (see 24:50 in the vid for example). In 600hrs of playing I've never seen that. Is there a setting I'm missing or is this only in hardmode?

Yes, one of the restrictions of Hard Mode is that it doesn't show you exactly where cargo is, you have to find it yourself. For ground based pickups they give you that circle as a general area guide. 👍🏼😊

I've wondered if the whole Hurrican is just means major storm to saber as kind of a "lost in translation" deal. You would think that all three of the vehicle spare parts would be below the house and that third one was just placed there to be difficult to recover and it annoyed me. When phase nine comes out may have to make a special expedition to get the Derry Special as that looks perfect for Amur. For the radio issue I believe you can just turn down ambient volume.

Yikes! Sorry for the very late response! For some reason KZbin marked this message as 'probably spam' and put it in a review folder that I am not in the habit of checking! I've just ticked the option to 'always approve comments from this user', so hopefully that won't happen again! Agreed, that third vehicle spare parts crate was in a weird location for a natural disaster, unless it was a tornado maybe that picked it up and dropped it. Defo placed to be annoying! 😁 I've not looked lots at phase 9 content, but I got the impression from the Tribe Called Cars video that the two new trucks are buyable, not found on the map for free? I'll look into the ambient sound thing, thanks. I wonder what else would be missing if I just turned that off. 😊👍🏼
