an advantage of the Fleetstar is that it can mount a small Crane, a Flatbed and haul Trailers at the same Time. the WWS can't do that. i own both, mostly because i love the look of these Trucks

That must work with the Flatbed and not the Sideboard bed, because I've tried hauling trailers with crane and sideboard bed and it doesn't work. The bed hangs off the back of the truck.

My father had 4 2070A Fleetstar's back in the 80's. Two red and one white tandem's with Barko pulp loaders. The fourth 2070A had an identical paint scheme to the one shown in this video, that particular truck had the third axle with a Barko loader as well. The truck at first had the loader mounted at the rear of the frame, but after awhile was switched to mounted behind the cab.

I very much agree. I understand it's harder to test because driver input comes into play which can change from run to run. Still I'd love to see tests that compare a trucks stability between setups. Raised suspension vs Stock, for instance. Stock Scout 800 vs Scout 800 with roof rack and all that fuel load as another example. Either way, props to @SD1One for the work he's been doing.

I found that the international has a bit of an issue hauling trailers because of the shape of its frame but you get it so early in the game that it's invaluable until you unlock the western star. Despite all its quirks it's earned itself a special place in my heart, But that difference in tire size really does change the game 45 versus 47 what a big difference 2 inches makes.....that's what she said.

I found the reverse - the WesternStar carrying medium logs is one of the tippiest trucks in the game, but early game it's the only truck viable for a medium log bed and medium log trailer - you have to use the winch a lot (sideways) to prevent tipping.

Fleetstar has advantage of equipping flatbed and loading crane while still being able to pull a trailer. Whitestar isn't long enough to do that.

Because honestly it might be a tad slower than others. But I've never gotten it stuck in Michigan after fully upgraded.

The Black Knight is managed to find the lift kit and I was using the 55 inch all terrain tires since those were the most advanced ones a could use at the time it probably was because of the length that kept getting me hung up and having to use my winch for the deepest muddy areas, I’ve got the whole manoeuvring with long or wide vehicles routine worked out. It’s just finding out which vehicles work best and where to use them now. Plus it’s the first spin tyres simulator I’ve played since I’m on ps4 so I’m all ears on advise.

Fleetstar will always stay in my garage as it pulled me through Michigan where it did 90% of tasks, but the WWS is definitely an upgrade. Chassis on the Fleetstar is too long for Semi Trailers, but it can use crane + bed + trailer, so for certain missions it's still super useful.

I love the stability test. It drives home the reason why I went Western Star, everything else would roll over. Soft shoulders and the sides of mud holes would constantly tip every other truck.

I'm over 30 hours in, and while I thought the fleetstar was a drag at first, being slow and getting stuck easilly, I have found it to be one of the most useful trucks in the game. Once it's fully upgraded, it almost doesn't feel slow, and I have gotten more work done with that truck than any other truck by far. I highly recommend chasing down the upgrades early on, especially the Westline V6

So I accidentally came across the Royal Bm17 when I was stoned off roading in scout 800 in Alaska north port..best.truck.ever. Thing is a beast on mud tires and the stock engine has pulling power and uses very little fuel. I sold my fleetstar pretty quickly

You should do these test on all trucks and give them points 1-10, then make a list of every different class and rank the vehicles. So when you’re done it’s easy to tell what trucks have been tested and how they compare to others

Also something worth noting: some trucks have a slightly bigger/heavier front bumper. I don't know yet if smaller tyres affect it's height, but it's possible for trucks to get stuck due to the bumper scraping against the ground. This happens most on the mud pit test. Heavy cargo seems to affect it as well.

Looks like someone's got a bit of a preference. I've always used the Fleetstar for smaller deliveries, especially when completing the jobs in Black River. You'll get better at driving the Fleetstar with practice and start to pick up the pace while driving down familiar roads, and that's when you appreciate the fact that the center mass of the truck is a lot higher and that the body of the truck is thinner. It means you can take corners a little more sharp while at higher speeds, it's actually quite fun to rip around with a Fleetstar on tarmac. It's true that there's more chance of the truck tipping over unfortunately.

I used the Fleetstar for the entire Michigan campaign. Once upgraded it was quite a workhorse and I just kinda grew fond of it. It could also be used some in Alsaka since it has chains but I found it to be too painful for practical purposes.

I believe the White Star is quite a bit heavier than the fleetstar, which is why the power to weight suffers. For this reason, the fleetstar often loses front wheel to road contact with heavy trailers in off-road settings, making steering a nightmare.

I pick the Western Star, had it going through wheeldeep mud, with the ramped flatbed and 4 lots of wooden planks on the trailer, due to the game annoyingly unloaded the truck first... With help of off-road tires, difflock, AWD and winch I got it through.

I love the stability test! A very useful test would be to chek when a Vehicle rolls over on its side. Fot that, just make a street that gets more and more tilted, and see which vehicle can get further!

This popped up in my recommendations after I started a Hard Mode playthrough. I'm not using any mods and I'm playing the maps in order so I can't run to Taymyr for the Tayga. People tend to blow off these early trucks, but the Fleetstar has really impressed me with its' capability and the Western Star is just a brute. I've been really careful not to flip either one and I haven't gotten into anything yet where I even needed to rescue either of the trucks. (Aside from one instance where I was too busy thinking about the next contract and drove past my fuel truck in Island Lake and ran out **facepalm**) Great stuff, mate. Thanks for all your videos!

The White Western Star was my main truck until I unlocked and upgraded the Tayga w/ the raised suspension and 51" specialty mud tires. The Royal BM17 is a close second though! Haven't had much time with the Freightliners yet, but they seem to be more specialized.

I did things the easy way and rescued every truck available on the maps I could immediately access, and opened all the roads, the Western Star was the champion of all that hard work. I don't think I've even pulled my Fleetstar out of the garage yet.

even to this day the wws is one of my favorite, despite it being outclassed in later phases. it's just so incredibly consistent. it's like a slightly lesser version of the tayga. it has good power, but not the best. it has a pretty large fuel tank, but not enormous. it has okay-ish tires. big advantages for it are the huge snorkel, pretty good fuel economy, and it's very stable, especially compared to others in its class. and it has such a nice soft engine purr it's almost peaceful to drive

Warning it is one of the few early game trucks that can use crane bed and trailer. I used it to complete Michigan almost single handedly. If you haven't invested in the lift kit you should before you sell it.

Fleetstar is not bad, if not a bug, it constantly hangs the front axle with loss of control, which is especially evident when using saddle trailers. But they can't compare him with White Western Star.

Right now I am running the Michigan maps and not going crazy buying truck, just using what I find as I go and recently got he the White Western Star. With mild upgrades it is already better as these tests show, especially for hauling the very heavy loads and through mud. The Fleetstar makes for an awesome support truck though keeping it away from the worst spots. Throw a maintenance frame add-on and use it to deliver fuel and parts to specific parts of the map as way-points. I can also run a crane on it as needed or use it as a rescue truck. I expect the White Western will take this role once I find/buy the really big trucks though (or get bored and want to try other things). Having not tried all the trucks it seems these two have the most utility by way of add-ons so they should be useful for some time. Also I think the White Western Star looks a lot better and reminds me of the trucks the local loggers used when I was growing up.

both are great trucks but the two differences I've found is that the Fleetstar will go faster but get stuck easier than the White. The White has bigger tires AND higher suspension so it doesnt get stuck even with unlocked diff and highway wheels.

I myself am still using the Fleetstar since the start (Fully upgraded now), im now on 3rd section area in Michigan, While the western star looks good, its still somewhat lacking in the performance department compared to the fleetstar due to the upgrades being locked in Alaska, and for me im still doing Michigan first before moving on so fleetstar still number one in my books. This will probably change soon however once i reach alaska

But once you get to Alaska, you'll get an even better truck for free. That's the problem with alot of these early game trucks (such as GMC and Kodiak), by the time you get all their upgrades, you've already got something that's clearly better.

The Fleetstar is massively underated. I used it to rescue the Western Star in the first place. I then (after upgrading it) took the Western Star out and managed to get it stuck. The Fleetstar came to it's rescue once again and pulled it free. I think the Tayga 6436 beats them both though.

Great testing! pretty much the same result as "felt" by me during the game. The bumpyness is the reason, why i dont use high suspension on the fleet - better danger of getting stuck (you've got a winch) than flipping over

Am I the only one that prefers the White to any other rig in the game? Its small and nimble enough to be used for scouting purposes, can do loads of work, take the high and lowboy hitches, and is absolutely beautiful.

I forget to include one point in video....Fleetstar is one of the few trucks which can attach trailer even with crane and bed addon install. WHITE can't do that, It's a useful ability in some situations

In favour of Fleetstar: it is shorter, so more maneuverable, upgrades are available sooner and it has no problem with connection of the the trailer when crane and cargo is on, in opposite to White Western Star. Great video in my opinion, keep it up!

I love and concurrently use both of these trucks, I feel like the "heavy duty" class of trucks is the best all arounders. But you gotta love the looks of the western star!

i remember those days when we all believed chains were best because they were at the bottom kinda like cat trucks with gb8v 2300c even tho its very low power compared to 2700t its at bottom lol

White western star and a lot of upgrades for it are in smithville dam so I reccomend that you unlock it when you go there

In the last test the WS has a higher clearance bumper attributing to a better mid transit. But overall the truck is better anyway
