@wake_mann Жыл бұрын
Congrats! I don't have the supplemental ballast so I have 26 bags (50lbs each) in place of the supplemental ballast. If I had the supplemental ballast I would not do any more than 10 bags, maybe between 300 and 500lbs, but you would be fine without any as well.

@@wake_mann 300-500 in rear lockers? Would you do the triple axle again? I drive 30 min to make every weekend.
@wake_mann Жыл бұрын
@BigDabby I would probably have to play a little to see where they work best, I would probably start midship and make sure there is 200lbs extra on the port side, seems to need it in my opinion. Triple axle was more necessary for Mr based on the weight I am hauling frequently, could certainly get away with tandem.

Did you not warm motor up to operating temps first to open the thermostat? Curious if this is a necessary step before I finish mine. Alrdy drained all my lines and don't rly want to warm it up and redrain all the plugs haha
@wake_mann2 ай бұрын
@williampietraszewski4140 this isn't necessary on this engine as it has a closed cooling system using antifreeze. The thermostat would only open for the antifreeze not the water lines. If you have a pcm engine from the last 5ish years you should be good.

@williampietraszewski4140 I'm not sure. Check to see if there is an overflow Reservoir for antifreeze. It should have green or orange antifreeze in it. If it does then this should mean.it has a closed cooling system.

I do a bunch of different boat winterizations every fall. Some boats are absolutely miserable to work on, especially in regards to winterizing the ballast tanks. The other thing is I always drain the water out wherever I can (block/manifolds/heater core/etc) before I run in the antifreeze so there is little chance of diluting the antifreeze as it pumps through the system.
@victorpoliashov24673 жыл бұрын
Your just as meticulous with your boats as I am, respect for that. Many, even the dealer dont even bother with the RV antifreeze. Just drain it and call it good. Whoever buys or has bought your previous used boats is a lucky boat owner.

My S23 manual says to put 1 gallon of antifreeze down the vent line of each ballast tank with the ballast valves open. I saw you open the valves but didn’t put in the antifreeze. Does the G23 manual not recommend that?
@wake_mann Жыл бұрын
I believe it does, it would certainly provide you a bit more safety. Generally, as long as water has room to expand, it doesn't do damage. I also keep my boat in an insulated garage and it only gets below freezing when it's negative outside. Even then it only gets down to about 29

Yes, you have to pull the collar up and it has to be decently aligned with the notch. The collar has a spring that holds it down. It helps if you take an up close picture to see what it looks like. I have a much harder time getting them back on typically.

Hey WM. Good video. My boat gets stored in a covered outdoor “stall”. Garage is way too small in my situation. My Centurion PCM has the same three quick disconnects etc. I go through all the normal drainage steps but I decided that there’s always a chance that a ballast pump or hose has some water in it - so I added an Xtreme marine engine compartment heater that comes on in really cold weather (I only plug it in if weather is going to be under freezing). Sort of “belt and suspenders” step. I use a mounting plate on the back bulkhead so I can easily remove it during the season.

Nothing needs to be done eith the heater on this boat as it has a closed cooling system and the heater uses antifreeze. If you have a different engine you may need to pull a hose or 2 to drain your heater.

Great video, thanks. I have a 2023 GS22 so this is super useful. Honest question, why do you need to run antifreeze through rather than use the existing antifreeze reservoir / system?
@wake_mann Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Antifreeze is not necessary but I like to do it to be extra safe. In boats with a closed cooling system they still use the lake water to cool the coolant, like a fan on a car. You need to at least drain the lines.

@wake_mann3 жыл бұрын
With the current setup, 2022 G23 on boat mate trailer, I cannot fit the boat in without swinging the tongue in. I have about 1.5 ft to 2 ft of space left in the rear as walking space. This setup is actually longer than my 24 MXZ even though the G23 is shorter, the trailer is just longer. The trailer was shorter on my 24 MXZ.

Tim, love the videos! Im building a cabin and trying to design the garage so I can park a future wake boat in it, G23 is a good example of what should fit for any boat. Wondering if you know a few dimensions I cannot seem to find online... Total max height with tower folded down, max width and length with tongue swing collapsed and platform still (All when on trailer). Any recommendations on garage design for this? the height and width I should consider? Any insight would be super helpful!!
@wake_mann3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, I think my garage is the minimum size I would do for the 2022 G23 with telescoping tower. It is 30ft long from inside wall to inside wall. The door opening is 12ft wide by 11.5 ft tall. With the trailer tongue folded and platform on I have about 1.5 to 2ft to spare, I wouldn't want it any tighter so I can still walk behind while parked and have room for parking error. I think it could fit in a 10 ft x 10 ft door but it would be very close on top and might have to remove guide poles for width. The extra 2 ft on sides and 1.5 ft on height make it easy to park without wondering if you will hit the top if you didn't put the tower all the way down, but still won't clear the height if tower is all the way up. Hope this helps.
@jordanheavenor68843 жыл бұрын
@@wake_mann awesome, thanks so much! So height wise, you think it could fit in a 9' tall garage door with tower lowered?
@wake_mann3 жыл бұрын
I can assure you that if you have the 2022 G23 with the tepescoping tower it will not clear a 9ft tall garage door, it would barely clear a 10ft tall door with tower all the way down.

Great question! The lowest I've seen mine was 28 degrees when it was -15 degrees outside but this was when it was insulated and not drywalled yet. I just finished drywalling it and I think I may get different results this winter. I still like to winterize to eliminate concern myself though. I used to rent a heated shop and I still winterized in case of power outage, which happened once during single digit temps.

Yes, we get cold in MT. MT has the lowest temp ever recorded in the lower 48 states in Cutbank, MT. If I lived where you do and had my boat in a garage I wouldnt worry about the main steps for winterization. This guy is talking shit. Ethanol fuel absorbs water, plus the longer (any type) of fuel sits, the lower the octane rates becomes - so leaving your tank full of fuel for this long, regardless if you use a stabiliser, will drop to an octane rating to a level that can cause knocking, and damage, especially on a higher compression engines like these high-end marine v8s
@wake_mann3 жыл бұрын
I will always follow manufacturer recommendation first and foremost. Manual says fill tank for winter storage, use octane 89, and ethanol is fine so long as its no more than 10%. Stating an opinion is not talking s***, your comment on the other hand is definitely talking s***.
@Fraser_9543 жыл бұрын
@@wake_mann Lookup degradation of octane rating and ethanol fuel water absorption. Both of these get worse the older the fuel gets
@wake_mann3 жыл бұрын
Thus the purpose of fuel stabilizer. Again, I will take manufacturer instructions over someone who comments on a KZbin video every day of the year regardless of google results. Helps protect warranty. But I appreciate your comments as they only help my videos.
