Wow, this is the best analysis I’ve ever seen for snufmin in Moominvalley! For a while I thought I was just imagining things and felt kinda silly for doing so but this really just confirms it for me that you can’t ‘accidentally’ write this stuff. Two thumbs up 👍👍 you brought up things I missed even on my third and fourth rewatches of the show! (Part 2) apparently it had "too many characters" :( ⭐- moominparents support -⭐ The parents would support whoever moomintroll decided to love, yes - I'm not denying that, in fact I think that'll be a point of conflict for snufmin in season 4, only for the lesson of unconditional love to be taught to moomintroll, I think that would be so sweet, especially with the gay context! :)) But I have to also respectively disagree and say that although the parents aren't controlling about it, they do want (or at least encourage) the two's relationship in season 3, but it's also how they romanticize moments between snorkmaiden and moomintroll, and then dismiss moments between snufkin and moomintroll. In moomintroll's grand adventure (ep2, s3) snorkmaiden jumps the boat to see moomintroll, according to moominpapa THAT is "young love", but then moomintroll cancels his hibernation, and scales a mountain for snufkin and the parents have this interaction: "do you think little my was right, did our boy come alllll the way up here *just* to find his FRIEND?" "FRIENDSHIP can do wonderful and strange things to you, my love" We see in homecoming (ep1, s3) moominmama gives snorkmaiden a shell, saying "oh, moomintroll wanted to give this to you! ", where snorkmaiden responds with "oh, I almost forgot..." (And then THAT'S when she suddenly "remembers" she's dating moomintroll) - indirectly, or directly (idk) moominmama kept the "relationship" alive And moominmama acts rather negatively to this interaction earlier in this episode: Snork.M- "where is he?? " MM- "moomintroll's still out in sea, dear, on the adventure!" Snork.M- "No. Not him, I mean the wise one.. He's inspirational

@@ThatGayGrassThief haha no worries I know it's easy misjudge people on the internets, hopefully I don't come across as a hater :'D So about the breakup, I guess I just don't see the ambiguity, sorry 😅Snorkmaiden literally declared him her soulmate in the last episode. it'd be jarring to go from there to "actually we broke up like 6 months ago lmao" in the next season (also if they broke up why did she choose to go get drunk *at her exes house*? she even kept her room?? the audacity of this girl 😂)) Snorkmaiden was fine with doing the spell with Little My, but it's a different situation if it´s with the person she's hoping to see reflected there, I think :/ but in this adaptation they specifically chose the phrasing " soulmates", which one could argue is up to interpretation.

@@giantsandwich :00 Hello again! 💙💙 :)) The main thing we seem to disagree on here is interpretation, like; what does this face mean? What does this word mean? And what is this character's intention? And that's entirely okay! :)) I can see your points and, seriously, I am actually so glad you did a long reply too - I kinda felt like a d*ck, and I was really hoping you didn't take it the wrong way :( I think you are the first person to verbally call me out so passionately, and honestly, I respect the hell out of you for it - you've stood your ground so well! :)))) /gen I'm hoping it's just you who reads this part because I don't really want to shatter the "illusion" to some people, but, I will admit. I didn't know much about the moomins fandom, and I still don't; but one of the things I do know is that snufmin shippers (especially snufmin pessimists) value QUANTITY over quality. Because really, I know how writing works. We have a confession scene with snufkin, a clearly romantic conflict has been introduced - snufkin is a key character, so they HAVE to solve this by the end of the final season. So, I KNOW snufmin will be canonized, but if I did a video just saying that; I'd get a lot of people wanting more proof and that isn't easy in moominvalley 2019. Especially, as you said, although the end half of season 3 has moomintroll in the second half - it isn't souly focused on him. So overall there isn't actually much for me to work with..so I latched onto a lot of things that probably don't mean anything: "have they broke up?", " does little my want to date snorkmaiden instead?" Smaller points like that, that I kinda just pulled from my a*s, especially the "inventing snork" and "toffles tall tales" challenges, sure, I can acknowledge them but I overexaggerated the significance to increase people's confidence :) AND to collect more points to support the more significant ones A secret between you and me, I don't think snorkmyden is going to be canonized, I don't even think it's close to being a playable ship in this adaptation but people like it a lot so I wanted to provide snorkmyden viewers with hope too :) Because really, I'd MUCH rather have people hopeful throughout the next year, and then in the worst case scenario; we'll have a few days, maybe weeks of disappointment - than a continuous pessimistic "oh we're so gonna get queerbated" attitude for a year, stopping people from enjoying their ship properly. I just want people to be happy. And if none of these ships do happen, I'm happy to be a scape-goat for the fandom when needed :) although a lot of my points were genuinely in the show; a bit of it was also a bit of deception, adding quantity to satisfy the more anxious viewers :( most of the show is unfortunately up to interpretation, and since this video had the aim of re-lighting people's faith in snufmin - of course I was purposely very biased 😅 Some people have agreed with me, some haven't; just know (as you mentioned this in your reply) I don't see you as a "hater", you are allowed to have different opinions! :))) I feel as though quite a few people didn't want to oppose me since I specified that I have autism; which would affect my voice, tone and perspectives, but not so much my mental age - I can take a good discussion, especially ones like this, I actually take great enjoyment in it :))

AW YES. I love the confession scene!! There is genuinely so much to talk about :)) I wanted to make comments on the movements (/animation decisions) in that scene however I believe someone has already done an "overanalysing the confession scene" video, and they might have already mentioned the animation details in that one - and I didn't want it to seem like I was copying someone's homework or something :) not too sure though..I watched it a while ago lol - ANYWAYS, I still love your idea! :D As someone who does a sociology A-level, we did touch on how to catch liers (I think I spelt that wrong) and eye contact is an easy give away in most cases, especially when it's instant like in snufkin's case :)) (also, side note: I've never heard the term "delulu" in my LIFE and had to look it up - and what a fabulous word! Although I am very fluent in English as well, but I must say that there's very little Moomin (and even less Snufmin) content in Spanish. Por eso suelo ver contenido en inglés (hasta tengo un fanfic de Snufmin en inglés, teniendo en cuenta que la comunidad del fandom habla principalmente ese idioma), surely as many of us Spanish speakers who know English and LOVE Moomin. nope, can't do it. I tried listening, I stopped half way through because my brain felt scrambled, wrote a message about how this video is too fast and needs to slow down or whatever, deleted it, tried the video again for another 5-7 minutes, couldn't do it. It's too fast, too much messing up, too much giggling and I'm just totally lost about what the heck the point of all this is. I'll try the longer video in the hopes it's slower and more methodical cause this is just too much for me.

fair enough :)) that's entirely valid - the video is very fast paced, even for me - that's why I put a warning at the start. I recorded it in a hypermania episode too, which kinda explains the fast pace and obnoxious giggles. I also went fast since I was very anxious people would loose interest, but it seems to have had the opposite affect on you :/ Anyways, you could always just; slow down the playback speed or rewatch season 3 to refresh your brain on it - but overall. You said you were going to try the longer version, right? Well don't. You won't like it. Trust me. Really, over anything I'd recommend watching quid historical's discussion on moomins instead: "the art of listening: tove jansson's moomins and the importance of being heard" - it's far more fascinating and it's also WAY slower so, rather simply - it wasn't made by me, so you'll like it a lot more :)) Overall, judging from when your account was created Sol, you seem to be a lot older than me. If this video was way too insufferable (which I understand), then I'm sure you're old enough now to know that literally no one is stopping you from watching a different video entirely if this one isn't for you - this video was also mainly directed at younger audiences, like me...since this adaptation in particular is...a kids show. Shock horror. Your videos were actually recommended to me by a friend who's a huge fan of this franchise and this particular ship, and trust me when I said I did follow along with a lot of what you were saying. Seeing as I haven't finished season 3 yet some of it was hard to understand but the parts about seasons 1-2 I totally understood (like I'm new to this whole series, I only just started watching for the first time 2 week ago kind of new. I THOUGHT SNUFKIN WAS BILBO BAGGINS THE FIRST TIME I SAW HIM if that puts things into perspective haha) I'll definitely check out what you told me to look at, but I'm still gonna check out ur videos too. You don't have to explain yourself when u made such a detailed video about something u really love :3 I love the passion, my brain just couldn't keep up hahaha thanks for taking the time to reply back tho. Most don't and those who do encourage me to explore their works more :)
