Great, great video! This is exactly what I have been wanting to see about winter camping. All to often presenters carry on and on about some insignificant detail (like setting up the tent or how far they've walked) and ignore the real basics of surviving on a snow floor. I really appreciate your video ...please do more!

I agree 100 percent! All too often, most snow camping videos are consumed with the camper's food and preparation thereof. I watch snow camping videos to learn -- what to do and what not to do. This video is most instructive. Too many snow camping videos take up too much time with eating and/or building a fire. As an adult, I already know how to eat and I really don't need to see someone else eating in order to leard anything about that. What I want is information about preparation for snow camping, equipment and the like. This video hits a homer in that respect. Please make more videos to instruct us neophites. Thank you!

I've had one for about two years now and have used it in all sorts of conditions in the Pacific Northwest. I've tested it in high winds, heavy rains, and in winter conditions. It's well made and has performed flawlessly with no leakage, condensation, or problems with snow load. I leave the two parts attached as it makes setup easier. I can set it up in under five minutes. I would recommend this tent to anyone needing a lightweight, four season, two person, tent.

Nice video:) I am currently camping out in a plain old walmart ozark trail one person 7 x 5 tent..hehe..I have a thin self inflating matt under me..an old fluffy beat up quilt style sleeping bag to lay on top of..and for covering I am using a wool blanket and a light fleece blanket..I heat it up just a little bit with my propane single mantle lantern( being mindful to ventilate( then I turn that off..then I just light a 3 wick candle in glass and let her burn..being mindful if and when I move around inside. I'm just in a long sleeve shirt and skivvies and alight pair of socks..and..toasty warm in the 18 dollar tent..which is pitched on about 18 inches of Hoosier Indiana snow!..I have this covered with a 10 by 10 tarp..with a stick pushed under the tarp on top of the tent as a type of ridge pole..going across and providng ventilation and warmth at the same time making it rain-proof..:) Probably around 58 to 60 degrees in there..around 20 f outside or a bit less:) Kind of tight to sleep in but meh..it works:)

Great video man! I wish I would have had that tent on my three day hike a couple weeks ago! Dropped down to -15 high of 5 and we were in a two season tent. What a world of difference it makes apparently. We woke up and EVERYTHING was frozen inside the tent. Including wet wipes and cliff bars. Figured some tricks to get the night not to suck so much, even though my sleeping bag was only rated to +20 degrees. BUT buying that tent would have been the ultimate trick!! lol Definitely proofs the importance of "the right gear"
@livingsurvival11 жыл бұрын
Two season tent will work fine if you get a decent fly for it.
@downtownprepper87811 жыл бұрын
LIVING SURVIVAL Well it Definitely "worked Fine", and by that I mean we din't die, lol But after a whole night of rolling around in agony waiting for Bob to show his beautiful freaking light we decided to smart up. We lined our tent with two Military Ponchos and a couple Mylar blankets. Turned our shitty situation into the freaking Ritz! But everything still froze, Warmest we ever got in the tent after all activity seized was about 5 degrees, even with the fly, two ponchos, and two mylar blankets. But you are completely right about the tent working though, we were cold but we stayed alive no problem. I think one of the biggest problems was that the tent was "full" sized. There was too much area inside the tent for us to warm up efficiently.

hmmm another nice video, but the tent doesn't look like it would shed snow too well? especially with the pole that wraps around the middle, I guess that would add a bit of insulation though, but where I live it's not uncommon to get 30~50+ cms (20+ inches in a night) so i think the tent would be as flat as a pancake... thanks for sharing though, all the best, Paul.

I have the old The North Face Tadpole tent with that same pole design. It is not the best design for winter camping B/C heavy snow collects on the back area and builds up, weighting down the roof. A Keeper Of Odd Knowledge Hi! The problem with the Ionosphere is that it has to be built from the inside out...i.e. Inner first with the rain fly added last. This is ok if you're putting it up in good weather but a right b*****d if you need to put it up when it's already raining. The Scorpion can be put up flysheet first or even as an 'all in one' tent, which are much better options for arduous conditions.

I'm only 5'9" but how do they compare in head room? is the vestibule worth the trade off in total interior space storage space?
@livingsurvival8 жыл бұрын
It's a toss up really. More room in the Bunker and more like a traditional tent but head space is the same in both and wiht the scorpion you can keep your wet stuff in the vestibule. Go for the Scorpion 3 and then you will have best of both worlds as the 2 is really tight with 2 people.

@vTRage9 жыл бұрын
+Ray Britt really??
@death2999 жыл бұрын
+vTRage yes and no... snow if a fantastic insulator but leaving snow on your tent increases the chances of condensation in your tent and given you do not know how much it will snow it can ultimately end up snowing enough to collapse the tent

+josh spradling - Snow is hollow it's pretty light I don't think it will collapse the tent. More like it will support the tent.
@death2998 жыл бұрын
iamanoobiecheez you'd be surprised It collapses roofs on a fairly regular basis that are actually designed and required to be built to hold such loads For instance an indoor sports arena had one collapse earlier this year (well partially) And idiot hikers have had to be saved for the same reason (refusal ro remove the snow) When it comes to things that can kill you..it's best to err on the side of caution
