Firstly, the two long poles with a slight bend go in the back to give you that added room. I always start in the back with the curve parts last to enter the envelope. Once you set up the inner part with the toggles , you leave like that on break down and bag it up.

Great video! Also really nice tent. I always go for tents with that kind of design (rainfly first and inner attached). Perfekt for snowy and rainy conditions like it is here in Sweden where im from. (Almost all nordic made tents have this design) I have an exped venus 2 extreme myself and always keep the inner attached for easy setup! The tent goes up fast even in high winds! Really great videos! Take care!

Watched your video. Enjoyed it very much and you played a part in my choosing Snugpak. I must admit that I went with the Scorpion 3, I love this tent. I have read where some people say a Scorpion tent takes too long to set up-I disagree. It is a learning experience the first time around, like anything else but after that it goes up fast and is easy. Again, I love this tent! and Thanks Living Survival for sharing! Post Script...I subscribed today Bro :)

+John Penn yeah, it certainly doesn't take long to setup. faster in most cases if you just leave the inner portion connected to the fly.

I really like all of your videos and your choices in gear. When it comes to quality survival/camping gear I have learned one thing - you get what you pay for. I've been thinking about getting the Big Agnes Flycreek 2 or 3 man tent because they are so light and pack up so small, but after watching this I might have to reconsider. This tent seems very sturdy and it looks like it will take much more abuse than the expensive backpacking, featherweight tents. I like the large vestibule area as well. Looks like you could cook in there if it's raining out. Plus this is a four-season tent, so if I get the itch to go cold weather camping this winter I'll have an option.

Which design do you prefer better, the bunker or the scorpion? Going to be my first tent. Im looking for a 2 person tent, and I love both designs, just having a tough time picking. Love the fact the scorpion has that little extra space to store gear outside, away from the sleeping area yet, still staying dry for the elements.
@livingsurvival10 жыл бұрын
If it's just 1+ the scorpion 2 is great and yes the vestibule is nice for dirty or wet gear. If you prefer a taller tent the bunker is great as well. You might want to check out the scorpion 3 which is the same as the 2 but just bigger and great for 2+

@markwilson84659 жыл бұрын
+zoodidwa I have the Scorpion 3, pitching is pretty straightforward but every night I've been in there I've had a problem with condensation - all vents fully open, inner door left open and still get condensation. It's a bummer! Only one of the nights was around freezing point. Also had a leak on first use in the top of the fly - towards the back there's a spot where a whole bunch of seams come together - but that's been sealed

Nice tent but I went with the Alaskan Guide tent instead because at the time I did not know this tent comes in a 3 man version. I felt that the 2 man version in the Snugpak would not give me enough move around space .

A couple of tips: 1. Do the review AFTER you've used it, rather than speculate how it's going to perform (sigh!). 2. Don't scrape away the snow. Just walk around and compress the snow a little larger than the footprint of your tent (snow shoes work really well for this job). Doing this will provide valuable insulation under you. If you scrape all of the snow away, you have nothing but the cold earth under you. Try it. It works!
@livingsurvival10 жыл бұрын
Combo Fan FIrst time in the winter brother. Good tips.
@amgolfer359110 жыл бұрын
Combo Fan--would one have to have extremely long tent stakes? I am assuming if you build this on too much snow (I clearly understand not having the "cold earth" directly beneath a person) it would create a serious challenge to stake down one's tent down with proper/reliable equipment? I really don't want to be searching for wood and creating a spear to stake my tent down......just sayin. If I'm way off please enlighten me. I was thinking leaving a 3-4 inches but not 18 inches as "Living Survival" was saying was on the ground--I would think there would be a small compromise? Let me know. Thanks....

Shane G In deep snow you just get rocks or something heavy enough to secure the corners and then bury them in the snow like anchors, connecting your tie outs to that.

These tents seem nice at first look but after consideration of the way the tent is designed with the seperate floor it looks like the design leaves a lot of openings for mosquitos and other bugs to get in. In my opinion that defeats my purpose of having a tent. With that in mind I couldn't use a tent like this.
@livingsurvival9 жыл бұрын
James Dean It is not a separate floor, its a separate inner. Look at it this way...with a typical tent you run the poles outside the tent and then attach a fly over that. This system the poles go in the fly meaning you can setup just the fly if you want and it installs first so you can stay on the inside while you setup the rest. The interior portion which is fully zipped and ventilated connects to the fly from the underside.
@asherdog92483 жыл бұрын
It seems to me that scorpion is a bad name for a tent.
@jonathangarzon27984 жыл бұрын
Am I the only one who is pissed that all of these tents have nothing more than plastic bags or silicone brushed on as rain covers? We've had membrane technology for close to 15yrs now and still these cheap companies refuse to incorporate them into their tents to have higher profit margins both up front and by having you buy another sooner due to this planned obsolescence.

You need only do it the first time you pitch the tent then you can leave the inner connected forever & it'll pitch both inner & outer together..why have an inner pitch 1st? Doesn't make sense at all..inner pitch 1st,?..no thankyou
