It's hilarious, my stirmi is also named zelda.... I swear that was established before I found your channel.... my zelda has the same attitude as your zelda. She actually haired me in the eye a few weeks ago and I ended up in the hospital 🤦🏼‍♂️ My enclosure is set up very much like yours... she found the cork bark cake the second I out her in there and has never been seen out. I'd I'm lucky I see her feet in the door. Mine I'd still pretty small, probably not even 5", only about a year old. I hope I get to see her more when she gets bigger. I'm back in the hobby after about a 15 year break. All together I have about 10 years experience, but she is my first Theraphosa. I'm really more of an arboreal enthusiast, but I do love my brachys. I don't do fossorials.... zelda and my nhandus are the closest to a fossorial I've got. I used to keep haplopelmas and they just really ruined the whole fossorial thing for me.... I don't know if you keep any lividum, but they really make your obt look like a cuddle bug. LoL

Dumb question? What kind of worms are those blue things? We used to have Arizona Blonde tarantulas all over the place as a koi river ran between our house and guest house. It was very arboreal for an Arizona desert. During mating season the males would be everywhere. We would drop crickets to now and again into the female holes. Good eaters. Never had any problems with bark scorpions - I’m guessing they were tarantula snacks. These tarantulas were very heavy and large. Also docile. If we had to move one while gardening. You would just let it climb on your glove. Move it for a little bit, then put it back. Plenty of Mojave, diamondback and sidewinder rattle snakes . Had to be careful when you opened the door. King snakes solved that problem :)

The hairs can irritate your skin a lot! They have barbs on them.

It's just a precaution, so she doesn't get the urticating hair lodged in her skin. They're terribly irritating and can cause infections. (That's why they're so effective as self defense... They can actually kill predators by getting into the eyes and nose!)

Tarantulas are quite primitive. Their eyesight is very poor and all the long hair strands help them feel within a few inches away from them. Hornworms don’t have as much stronger vibrations in movement then Cockroaches do. Roaches are Much easier to feed prey to any specific Tarantula species.
