A man was riding on the bus and reading an article about life and death statistics. Fascinated, he turns to the fellow, sitting next to him and says, "Did you know that every time I breathe somebody's dies?" The fellow turns to him and says, "Have you tried mouthwash?"

Deciding “yep, things used to be good, but now it’s not, so we have to live by today’s standard” is admitting defeat, not keeping higher standards for yourself, and not fighting for something better to doom yourself to something worse. If it existed 15 years ago it can exist today if people put their feet down and refuse anything else for themselves.

Michael- you can’t say in 1969 we had no fault divorce and compare it to 2024. That’s 55 years of feminism being pushed and taught to all public school aged females before college. That level of programming was not even a thought in 1914, 55 years prior to 1969. To compare 1969 to 2024 is absurd.

The funniest thing I saw recently was a DW post that said, “when done right, marriage is the most rewarding thing that can happen in life” or something to that effect. It’s like, yeah, and if I win the lottery, I’ll have a lot of money. Marriage is nearly impossible to “do right” especially since it requires 2 people to both “do it right,” and not only are modern women both legally and culturally incentivized to not “do it right,” they are also , on average, bad partners to begin with.

She says that “the average marriage is 7 years” and this simply isn’t true. The average divorce is around 7 years, but the average marriage lasts until death. Especially if steps are taken to mitigate the chances of divorce (making sure you are truly compatible before marriage, avoiding pornography, drugs, and alcohol, make sure you have clear and open communication about everything, etc.). Doing that brings the likelihood of divorce down to almost nothing.

As my grandfather would say, “figures lie and liars figure.” You can have something as simple as “number of people who die from gunshot wounds in Chicago vs Honolulu” showing a set number for both cities during the same amount of time with triple redundancy to make sure that all of the figures are correct, where they came from, everything, and people like that woman will still say “that doesn’t matter, it’s not real, it’s not important” because it disagrees with their opinions, and they will twist or misrepresent the facts to either discredit it or somehow make it sound like it supports their side of the discussion. It’s psychotic.

To be fair though her argument was those statistics he used included all peoples, what she was saying was among younger generations. Then Michael says they've had no fault divorce since the late 60's. However, since then is when you start seeing the decline in marriage lengths, rise in divorce rates, and it only get exponentially worse when you add in dating app years. That's the point she was making I believe.
@Aku9466
@Aku9466 21 күн бұрын
@@WakkaWakka25 except that the discussion was on all marriages in a set time frame and then she decided to nit pick at the fact that it wasn’t aimed at the younger demographic. Like I said, playing around with the numbers and facts to either discredit it or turn it to a false positive. If all marriage rates fell she’d say it was proof in her favor, if they went up she’d say that the research was flawed. There’s no winning unless people are honest with each other and themselves over what is real or not.

The deciding factor of the debate this clip is from is the fact that Michael thinks people should get married and have kids, and Pearl not so much, the way you know who’s example is worth following is by choosing which two of these people seem happier, Michael has a loving wife and kids and is perfectly happy, Pearl does not and when you hear from her, she ain’t never happy, Don’t follow people’s advice when they themselves seem unhappy with their own life

The statistics of current divorce rates are being hidden by older generations with stronger values. Her point is that to categorize a married couple that has completely different values and has been married for 40 years with another couple that has been married 4 years makes the statistics unhelpful. I believe if those statistics were broke up into age categories or length of marriage categories it would be far more informative and extremely troubling and probably the reason it is not released to the public. Basically including older generations with stronger values in a statistic with younger generations hides the true extent of the generational values downturn. As the older couples who have been married start to die, the statistics are going to drop like a lead weight. Our society is poisoning our children’s minds and they are trying to hide it from us.

The biggest problem is social media. When someone has a prpblem they run to social media and you have a bunch of thirsty people that are more than happy to ruin a marriage because their life sucks and they don't want anypne else to be happy. You have guys that want to sleep with the woman, or women telling her then lave him theres all these other men here. Men will hear things too. It used to be you might know people in your town and thats about it. Now people see everyone from every town and city around and have a bunch of outside noise in their life.

My wife and I decided before we got married that divorce is never on the table. If we have a problem, we fix it like adults. We understand, obviously, that abuse, infidelity or anything that would be cited in a “fault divorce” would obviously be reason enough for divorce, but knowing each other and doing our due diligence in getting to know each other before marriage, we know that none of those were likely to be an issue. The problem we see now is that people separate and get divorced at the first sign of trouble. They have this expectation that because the relationship felt so perfect when they were dating that if something comes up and someone starts having a problem, that somehow “they changed” or “they weren’t who they thought they were”. No one is perfect and people struggle. They get sick, they make dumb choices, and sometimes they get stuck in ruts and bad habits, but that is often when they need more support, not abandonment. Marriage is work and people have become selfish and lazy. They figure that life was easier when they only had to consider what they wanted, so they end the relationship. Taking divorce off the table forces the people to work through their problems, mature, and grow in their relationship. My wife and I have had our fair share of struggles, but we always come out of it stronger. If we had just decided that it was too hard and quit, we would not be where we are now, happily married for almost 10 years with 2 children, and homeowners.
