Salem lost a piece at the end. His time was very low too so he just resigned

he trapped his own rook and had to give up a knight for it. a few moves later realized there wasnt enough compensation so he resigned. it had nothing to do with time, the position was just lost.

He had a really really loosing position in the end too. Carlsen defended well, even though he had a losing position at some point. But yeah he surrendered the game, he started to make worse moves in the end, which had a lot to do with his time trouble too. Saying it had nothing to do with time is rather stupid :D
