Just cleaned out my own Vl’s commodores barn find fuel tank having the same issue that it won’t start haven’t checked fuel pressure but could be the problem used to start fine before I pulled out the tank and fuel pump

Those injectors will be clogged With old fuel and if you have spark and injector pulse it means the crank sensor in the dizzy is all good

Timing is out the way it’s kicking back on the starter. Dizzy could be 180 out, also the one I bought was about the same condition & I had to tap the injectors at the base for a bit & it eventually started. Mine runs mint now!

Hey again man, im an r31 guy but when that new dizzy went in it looked like it was in the wrong spot, be sure to set motor at TDC, then cyl 1 is usually furthest to the left on dizzy, on r31’s anyway, check timing, so close!

yeah sounded like timing to me aswell, should also check ecu for codes that should eliminate all the electrical stuff. Anyway enjoying the vids so far fellas, looking forward to more👍

I'm sure he put the distributor in the same way it came out. He did have cap off. So I'm guessing he checked rotor position.

Have you checked for compression in all the cylinders? Mine had a stuck valve after not running for only 10 years. Hold the accelerator open and crank mine eventually started after lots of started fluid.

Vls don't like to run with air Leaks past the air flow metre.. there is a vacuum line that goes under the throttle body under the throttle position sensor real pain in the backside to get too I would be looking There too see if it's broken off there is a couple others around the plenum that will do it too also disconnect the airflow metres seen alot of them fail and cause no Start also when you fit your dizzy it's on a cam and turns as you put it in that's caught me out a few times before lol , I've owned many vls over the years and still own Two now a a8 vl Calais turbo and a 5 speed wagon

So close! Gotta be injectors, as mentioned just spray some start ya bastard in to the throttle body if you can.. Looking forward to seeing the old girl breathe to life. and i got a bit of anxiety seeing you under car with the pressurized fuel, please guys be careful and use eye protection in that scenario ... Ask me how i know 😮

The coil packs on these are notorious for failing, try another coil. Also, change the IAV which are cheap as chips.

Unplug the afm and see if she fires up with it unplugged & then re plug it in, also try some start ya bastard mine fired off a mist of it😂

Definitely worth a try. And also. Injector rail you can just undo, stick a piece of paper behind them. And wind it over You'll see if they spray or dribble.
