Miyako has excellent sweep picking technique. She’s the dark haired, quiet, mad musical genius who’s also a concert grade classically trained pianist. Check out their Swan Song with the Chopin Etude performance where Miyako really shines bright.

The incident when guitarist Midori nearly fell on her butt is famous among the Wolf Pack. I think what happened is that she was leaning back on Asami and resting her weight on her. When Asami stepped away Midori lost her balance and had to do a hop, skip and a jump to recover her feet. She made an astonishing recovery considering she was wearing five inch heels and never missed a beat in the music.

Us true Lovebites fans have faith they will find a qualified bass player and carry on. Scream For Me is up in my top 3 tracks because of the guitar skills showcased. It doesn't get much better.

Japan is full of talented musicians, personally I dont know a female bassist with the style and skill that fits lovebites, im not expert tho, but im sure theres a hidden gem somewhere waiting to join.

How, easy if you are Midori/Blond at 20 give up the piano and Pharmacy school to learn to be a Jedi master guitarist. If you are Miyako/Black classical trained pianist since age 3 pick up a Dean guitar at 18 and self teach yourself to play like this.....no problem. The talent in this band is not only insane it is borderline illegal (in America we would calling them a monopoly and seeking to break them up (LOL))!!! This is one of their Rock numbers they love to play for the crowd. Haruna/drums is a dynamo that makes the energizer bunny look anemic. Asami/vocals has a range to die for despite never singing metal she is perfect for this band. Petite (only Miyako is over 5' tall) once they put on those white dresses and high heels they turn into Metal Goddesses. Positive lyrics that grab the heart and stir the soul, world class musicians and a band so in sync LIVE it is stunningly scary!!!! This was a guitar clinic and when my friends learned when they started on the guitar they fell into a deep depression (LOL)!!!!!! If you want shock try Above the Black Sea LIVE at Wacken (kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2raaWSiotxlpNE) the Mecca of Metal where the metal-heads were curious about some fashion models that exploded on stage and blew away a hardcore metal crowd despite being a noon start time on a side stage, ended up jammed to overflow!!!

I missed your reaction to Holy War, so here is my comment again, with a lot of links, and their names as well. Congratulations on finding the most insane new metal band to come along in decades. In their five years of existence as a band, they set a standard that easily puts them on a par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Their founder and bassist announced her departure on Aug 17, 2021, so we can only hope they find a way forward. Meanwhile, we console ourselves with their astonishing catalogue of work. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. Whatever the description, I think one can say they have given metal a badly needed makeover and maybe a new lease on life. They have themselves said that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. Some background: They were formed from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and soul of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the greatest European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands. The whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she also trained in ballet). Miho and Miyako have composed most of their music, in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer, but Midori has also been getting into the act. Asami writes a lot of the lyrics. They have only been around for about 5 years. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. and aced it all. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and at this point they’ve taken it to another level. This is one of their usual first songs for reactors, and rightly so--you get a good sense of the band. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash, and almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel. Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. Miyako is also a professional-level classical concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. What did you just watch you ask…only the absolute greatest guitar battle in metal …you’re welcome lol, the thing I love about this band is the fact they totally destroy the stereotypes of what is expected in metal because for years I’m sure women have been told metal is a male genre..NOT because these women are truly (in my opinion) 6 string samurai shred masters who may be pretty but will shred the 💩 out of your senses and put a lot of male bands to shame anyway I would recommend Break the Wall from Zepp Diver City it’s one of their heaviest songs and the guitar solos 🥰

Great, heartfelt reaction.I strongly recommend “Edge of the World” from the Zepp Diver City Tokyo 2020 show (it was early, pre Covid… but they were allowed to play a very short tour in Japan in March/April too… check their official site, store, overseas sales… I think you might just want to pre-order the “Heavy Metal Never Dies” release that was filmed on one of those gigs). I digress, Edge of the World is a totally different side to the band, almost prog in construction. A request of a different kind, it would be great if you rewind 10 seconds each time you pause, for continuity AND because it prevents you cutting back in and not quite hearing something us viewers know you’d love. And if you thought you saw Midori trip and Asami stifle a giggle, you did. No harm or offence if you’d gone back and played that bit again. Loads of reactors do just that. Keep on reacting to Lovebites because this is the only level they know. Next level…

actually the covid mess started in march of 2020 - 2019 was the last normal year that the world had. yeah midori and asami tripped a little. and of course midori did not miss a note. like always
