I just did 3 dead trees in the front yard for a neighbor last week. We cut them down to the ground and put a fire ring around them and used the scrap wood from the dead trees to burn up the stumps. WOW, that was a lot of sawmill slabs. It would be great to be able to cut that way, standing up. I have to go into the woods and delimb and trip all over limbs and multiflora rose. That hopper is just plain cool, and I am sure it is a big help.
@AllenFamilyFirewood2 ай бұрын
I’ve never tryed burning a stump I bet that takes a bit . That load of slabs is from 2 days of sawing on the mill they add up fast . Cutting off the forks is my preferred way to cut but once the pile of rounds gets big enuf I just start cutting em on the pile . Standing up and cutting keeps ya saw outa the dirt an saves on ya back . Thanks Jim

Hello Phil and Karen. That tandem splitting is a great site. I think you guys have found the answer to stacking! Just do it in (Time-Lapse), it’s definitely faster. What a video! It seems like not long ago there was a character named Phil, who would get on his wife’s nerves by not listening. Ironically he was paid back in spades today. Fortunately this little life lesson did not seem to require a trip to the emergency room. Then there was the whole exhaust thing. And it leads me to wonder if Phils lovely wife should not shouting foul play! With the proximity of the exhaust pipe versus the splitting station of Miss Karen. What exactly was burning in the sawdust? 😳 Y’all have a wonderful day.
@AllenFamilyFirewood2 ай бұрын
If he’d only listen Glen lol! It was sawdust and some bark that started smoking, we’ll be keeping an eye on it now until we fix the situation. I don’t notice any fumes from the exhaust but it does add some heat over there when I’m splitting, which is nice this time of year lol

Have a question. I know you have a few totes around and you like to stack the wood, but, would it be more efficient to dump straight into totes and not stack. You would have the expense of a tote but that would last longer, I think, than your stacks and you would have less time involved. Are more people going to that instead of stacking? Love your videos and I know that must have hurt.
@AllenFamilyFirewood2 ай бұрын
We looked into buying them totes . There $70 each around here . Takes 3 totes to make a cord and we do 200 cord so I would need 600 totes . With buying that many I could probably get a better deal maby $ 50 each so 600 totes times $50 each if $30 grand and add another 5 grand to dispose of the plastic bladders . Also when delivering id have to dump 3 totes compared to 2 of our pallets . We have plenty of lumber but not so much cash so that’s why we use the pallets instead of the totes .
@outdoorswithlarryrobin2 ай бұрын
Hello guys, very efficient minus loosing 20 minutes for stacking😂😂😂👍🇺🇸

We was just talking yesterday about how much more wood we could split if we didn’t stack . But it sure would slow us down come delivery time having to hand bomb a cord ea time .
